I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and started my college career at Auburn University. I then transferred to TCU where I finished out both my BS and MS in Accounting. After graduation, I started with KPMG in their Technology, Media, and Telecommunication audit group. While at KPMG I learned how to navigate through tight deadlines and unexpected circumstances while maintaining meaningful relationships with my team and my clients. Although I enjoyed the challenges and learning opportunities that public accounting offered, I discovered that I desired to serve the client in a more collaborative way. That desire led me to Embark!
Outside of work I enjoy anything where I can spend time with friends and family such as trying new restaurants, going to yoga, and taking my pup, Milton, to the dog park.
I was born in West Virginia and moved to Upstate New York when I was 12. I attended the University at Buffalo where I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in accounting. After graduation, I moved to New York City to begin my career in PwC's audit practice.
During my time as an auditor, I worked on several engagements, including an opening balance sheet audit resulting from an acquisition, a public year-end audit, and a statutory insurance audit. My time as an auditor provided me with the opportunity to develop analytical skills necessary to solve important problems. Additionally, auditing provided me with the insight into business processes to provide value to clients in difficult times. I quickly learned that auditing, as well as New York City, was not the best fit for me, so I packed up all of my belongings and moved halfway across the country to Denver to become a consultant at Embark.
When I'm not working, I love to do anything outdoors, including hiking, climbing, and camping, as well as going to see live music. I'm a life-long Denver Broncos fan, so my Sundays are spent rooting on my team!
I was born and raised in the small Polish farm town of Cestohowa, TX. I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas (hook ‘em!) and quickly learned that the city life was a better fit for me! I went through the MPA program at UT and obtained my BBA and Master’s in Accounting.
After graduating from UT and finishing the CPA exam, I moved to Dallas to begin my career with EY in their Assurance practice. I worked primarily on public clients in the building materials and real estate industries. While at EY I gained experience in several areas including internal controls, financial reporting and technical accounting. I quickly figured out that my favorite part of the job was being able to build relationships with the client and my team and work through complex challenges, which led me to Embark! I’m excited to have the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge gained to collaborate with clients and continue solving problems.
What lights my fire? Pursuing my fitness goals and learning about all things health related, spending time with my goldendoodle (her name is Margo), laughing with family and friends, and volunteering for Girls on the Run DFW where I coach five middle school girls!
I grew up in Granbury, TX and moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University where I graduated with both a BS and MS in Accounting. After graduation, I started my career in assurance at PwC in the Products & Services group, focusing on public clients primarily in the manufacturing industry. While at PwC, I discovered my passion for building relationships and the prevalent need for continuous improvement in business. The fast-paced environment and high-performing peers at PwC taught me to adapt quickly to unforeseen circumstances and strengthened both my technical and analytical skills.
Enter Embark. A company on fire for solving problems and building relationships. Embark's unique culture and mission to give business leaders peace of mind made the switch from assurance a no-brainer. I can now fuel my passions and interact and build invaluable relationships with top-notch professionals in a variety of industries. Seeking to understand problems and find new and disruptive solutions is exciting and I am so happy to be at Embark doing just that.
Outside of client-service responsibilities, you can find me at a variety of fitness studios, cooking a new recipe, or hanging out with my family and friends, and of course my dog, Wyatt. Above all, I am follower of Christ and am in constant awe of His goodness.Let's solve something together.
I grew up in a small town just outside of Houston, Texas where I started a career as a firefighter. After a couple years I decided to further my education, and attended Baylor University where I graduated with my Masters in Accounting in 2017. After I graduated, I moved back to Houston and began working at PwC in their assurance practice where I worked primarily with a large energy infrastructure client. While the fast-paced and challenging work was exciting, I desired to be in a position where I could help the clients solve problems. That’s what led me to Embark!
When I’m not working, I try to fill some of the adrenaline missing from my life with everything from snorkeling with sharks, to skydiving, to traveling to new places with my wife. On a more regular weekend you can find my wife and I cheering on Houston and Baylor Sports, or out enjoying everything Houston has to offer, all along my journey with Christ. He continues to lead my life, and I do my best to follow.
Starting college with no desire to study accounting or become a CPA, I ended up graduating with my BS in Accounting and MBA from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Apparently, I love accounting. LOL). After college, I returned home to Dallas to start my career in the Dallas audit practice of Grant Thornton. As an auditor, I had the privilege of being exposed to a variety of businesses and industries, including financial services, real estate, private equity, software companies, and not-for-profits. Now, at Embark, I have the opportunity to use my experience to help our clients solve problems! And that’s exciting!
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and binge-watching Netflix. I also enjoy serving my community through pro-bono consulting, volunteering, and going on mission trips.
Outside of being a professional problem-solver, I am a follower of Christ. I enjoy being a listening ear and encouraging others in their walk with Christ. I desire to be an example to my generation and those behind me of doing better on purpose and living a life of excellence and integrity.
I was raised in Boerne, Texas, a small town in the Hill Country just north of San Antonio. I attended Texas A&M University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in financial management.
After graduating, I moved to Dallas and began my career in the Audit practice at KPMG where I worked in the asset management group. While I enjoyed the team environment and challenging problems I faced, I quickly realized that audit wasn’t for me. I felt that I could be more effective in a role that allowed me to collaborate with the client and work as a team to achieve goals. I’m thankful to be at Embark where I’m able to do exactly that!
I became addicted to traveling after studying abroad in Barcelona during my junior year at A&M. Ever since, most of my free time and money have gone towards traveling. My top recommendations are Lisbon and Prague. When I’m not traveling you can catch me aggressively rooting for the San Antonio Spurs, and Manchester United.
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and Houston, Texas and attended Baylor University where I graduated with my Masters in Accounting in 2017. After I graduated, I moved to Dallas and began working at KPMG where I obtained my CPA. At KPMG I worked primarily on large retail and private equity clients, but also worked in the oil and gas sector.
After a little over a year and a half, I decided that I wanted to work in a consulting role where I could apply the knowledge I obtained working at KPMG to help clients solve problems. While searching for jobs in the consulting field, I found Embark’s website and the rest is history. I quickly realized that Embark provides a culture that is unmatched and would allow me the freedom to be creative. It has been an amazing experience to work for such a unique and fast-growing company.
When I am not serving my clients’ needs, you will likely find me at the gym or watching college football. I am also a huge movie buff, so if you need some recommendation just hit me up!
Born and raised in the Dallas suburbs, I journeyed all the way down 75 to complete my undergraduate and graduate studies in Accounting at Southern Methodist University. As a student, I also juggled a part-time job working with KIND Healthy Snacks as their brand ambassador, where I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed breaking boundaries, building relationships, and staying active.
Still, I wanted to see for myself what the Big 4 life was like, and I started in Deloitte’s audit practice in Dallas for two years before transferring to the Houston office, where I stayed another year. Beyond the technical accounting and audit skills I absorbed, my time in public accounting taught me how to ask the right questions, how to become a morning person (which says A LOT as a natural night owl), and how to lead from wherever you are. Energized with this mindset, I’m excited to take the tools I learned with me from public accounting and be a part of a team that’s shaking up the accounting industry.
A self-proclaimed novice and foodie (yelp elite five years and counting!), you’ll be hard pressed to find something I won’t try. Always down for the next great adventure, I also find the most joy spending time with friends and family, wherever we are. GO MAVS!
I was born in El Paso, Texas and grew up in Coppell, Texas –a small suburb of Dallas.
I obtained my BBA and MS in Accounting from Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!). I started my career in the Oklahoma City audit practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers. During my time with PwC, I worked on multiple public and private oil and gas engagements. Working in public accounting allowed me to gain insight into the intricacies of upstream and midstream revenue, reservoir reporting, oil and gas properties, and other complex financial reporting items that SEC registrants are faced with.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my wife and daughter, attempting to playing golf (key word attempting), and hanging out with my friends watching theCowboys win.
After an upbringing in a Dallas suburb, I found myself immediately enamored by the hill country when I moved down to Austin to attend the University of Texas. Five years later, I graduated with my MPA and decided to start my career back in Dallas working for one of the big four in their audit practice. I spent a majority of that time working on healthcare/non-profit/government clients and learned so much about business operations, team dynamics, project management, personal/professional development, and more.
To be completely honest, during that time I also often dreamt about being back in Austin, and I finally got up the courage to make that move in September 2019. It's been amazing to be here in my soul city again, which feels full of opportunities of all kinds.
If I could describe my life outside of work in a nutshell, it would be like this...I am obsessed with any kind of "content" that can grow or entertain me -books, podcasts, tv shows, anything. I tell people often that the best dollar I ever spent was the one I paid years ago in my hometown to get a library card. I am happiest sitting around a cheese board or pot luck meal with friends/family/community group. I love to unwind by playing the harp, being outside, cooking, traveling, or attempting (without much luck) to get better at golf.
I'm amazed by the culture and exceptional client relations that Embark has worked so hard to grow and maintain, and I am excited and honored to be a part of it all.
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas (specifically Coppell). For college I went to Oklahoma State where I got my bachelors and masters in accounting.
After college I moved back to Dallas where I started my career in KPMG's audit practice. I served many different clients during my time at KPMG, including public and private. I gained experience in a variety of industries including airline, retail, and oil and gas. I enjoyed my time in public accounting and developed skills that are essential to my career, such as time management, effective communication, and problem solving. After my third busy season, I decided to explore opportunities outside of audit, which led me to Embark. I quickly realized that Embark would be a great place for me to continue to my career.
Outside of work you can find me watching or playing sports (basketball, baseball or football), or trying to keep up with my mini Australian Sheppard, Milo.
I was born and raised in Plano, TX! I attended Oklahoma State University (home of the world’s largest homecoming celebration!), and earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting. I pursued a variety of leadership opportunities with Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and still root for America’s Brightest Orange!
After graduating college, I moved to Dallas and began working at RSP Permian, LLC in their accounting department. In July 2018, RSP Permian was acquired by Concho Resources and I joined their property accounting department. While at RSP & Concho, I had the opportunity to work with talented and intelligent people, and gained valuable experience in the oil and gas accounting industry. I was initially drawn to Embark’s culture and corporate values. Embark provides a terrific support structure in an innovative atmosphere, and I enjoy collaborating with the Embark team in the ever-changing oil and gas industry.
I have an adventurous spirit and a love for traveling! When not traveling, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring Dallas’s new hot-spots, trying out new fitness studios, volunteering for the Junior League of Dallas, and watching all things Bravo!
Originally from Dallas, TX, I grew up with a passion for tennis and went on to follow my dream to play for Baylor University while also obtaining my undergraduate BBA and Master’s in Accountancy degrees. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Austin to start my career with EY’s Audit and Assurance practice.
While in Austin with EY, I spent most of my time with private manufacturing clients. After a couple years there, I decided to make the jump to work with EY in the Dallas office and was able to transition working on primarily a public telehealth client, where I gained a ton of experience with SOX 404 as well as expanding my knowledge in other areas of technical accounting processes. The breadth of knowledge, client relationships, and fellow EY teammates that I was able to learn from and grow with are what I valued most during my time at EY. Now, working with Embark, I am looking forward to continuing to use this knowledge and these experiences to provide exceptional service to our clients. I am passionate about building strong relationships with clients in order to help them solve their problems. I enjoy being presented with a challenging or complex issue and working through it with the team. Ultimately, I want to be the go-to resource for a client, in whatever situation or issue they are facing.
Outside of work, you can find me playing tennis, ping pong, or paddle. Also, I am passionate about investing my time in the growth and development of youth, and enjoy volunteering with a youth ministry here in Dallas throughout my week.
I grew up in the Dallas neighborhood of Oak Cliff and made my way across town to attend Southern Methodist University and pursue a BBA and MS in Accounting. During my senior year of high school, I began an internship program with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), where I first became involved with the financial management of an organization. I continued working with this organization throughout college, and it became fundamental to my understanding of accounting and financial reporting. After graduating from SMU and passing my CPA exams, I made my way to PwC to begin my professional career.
At PwC, I joined the Financial Services Group and had the opportunity to work on several audit engagements, primarily serving clients in the asset management industry. There, I worked in a fast-paced environment and obtained valuable experience that allowed me to strengthen my analytical and problem solving-skills, enhance my technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge, and build essential relationships.
Both my experience at PwC and DISD helped cultivate my passion for helping organizations solve complex problems. Here at Embark, I am able do that and more with a team of individuals who are incredibly intelligent, love to solve problems, and are all around awesome!
Outside of work, I love exploring my city, serving at my church, trying out new restaurants, reading a good book, working on my painting skills, or taking a workout class. Above all else, I am encouraged to live with passion and purpose for the glory of God
I grew up in Midlothian, Texas, a small town about 30 minutes south of Dallas. After high school, I moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University. While at A&M, I was in the PPA program at Mays Business School, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in financial management. During my time at A&M, I worked as a teaching assistant for a couple of different professors within the accounting department
.I also did an audit internship at Deloitte and a tax internship at PwC. During my final year, I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam before graduation in May of 2017. After graduation, I returned to Deloitte in their audit and assurance practice, working primarily on clients within the investment management industry. I am grateful for the accounting knowledge I gained and the relationships I built during my time at Deloitte. After about 14 months in audit, I stumbled across Embark’s website, and my interest was piqued. I had not planned to leave public accounting but the culture that Embark has cultivated and the services they provide to their clients was too good of an opportunity for me to pass up.
I’m passionate about building relationships with clients helping solve problems. I enjoy being presented with a challenging or complex issue and working through it with the team. Ultimately, I want to be the go-to resource for a client, in whatever situation or issue they are facing.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife, Sarah, reading, and watching movies.
An East Coaster born and raised in New Jersey (yes, please ask me about the Jersey Shore), I stayed loyal to my home state and earned both my Master of Accountancy and B.S. in Accounting at Rutgers University. There, I created a strong network on the executive board of Beta Alpha Psi and spent some extra time volunteering as an accounting tutor for Rutgers students and as a mentor for elementary school children.
Once I completed my CPA, I migrated toNew York City to join PwC’s forensic advisory team. My time at PwC allowed me to enhance my financial analysis skills and truly learn what it means to work as a team and understand those around you. When I wasn’t investigating Ponzi Schemes and AML security with PwC, I spent my time exploring all the Big Apple had to offer: art, museums, hidden parks, basement dive bars, and top-notch pizza. I still made sure to travel out to plenty of countries, the top of my list being Ireland, Thailand, and Israel.
PwC eventually blessed me with the gift of being able to travel to Austin for an audit client, and within a week, I knew it would be the next place I moved. Within 6 months, I had a lease on an apartment, a new kitten to live with down here, and an amazing new tight-knit team of hardworking Embarkers who challenge each other every day. My time at Embark has taught me what it means to work hard and make a difference while embracing all that life has to offer at the same time, and our Austin market’s growth has been an amazing adventure to be a part of. When I’m not building relationships and solving accounting problems with our team, you can find me exploring my new city as a tourist, hiking or swimming at any Greenbelt creek (when they’re not dried up), or trying to get my hyperactive kitten, commonly known as Archie the Destroyer, to stop jumping on the counters.
I was born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland -also known as the last stop on the Metro red line. I attended the University of Maryland, College Park for my Bachelor’s in Accounting and Marketing (Go Terps!!) Like most young adults in the DC area, I began working in the Federal industry as an Audit Intern at the US Department of Defense, and then a Federal Auditor at KPMG after graduation in 2015. A few years down the road, I had the opportunity to work on a public oil & gas client in Austin, where I instantlyfell in love with the city. In 2018, I packed up my home in a minivan, said goodbye to my home of 27 years, and moved to Austin!
After 3.5 years total at KPMG, I worked on multiple engagements and gained experience in various industries, including federal, publicly traded companies (specifically oil & gas), and private sectors (specifically manufacturing and technology). With this, I developed a depth of experience in financial reporting, process documentation, internal controls, and technical accounting. However, my favorite part of work was building relationships and collaborating with clients to resolve issues to improve overall efficiency in their organization. This eventually led me to Embark where I can further pursue those interests!
When I am not at work, I am most likely watching or participating in trivia nights for The Office with friends. If not there, I can be found walking through the aisles of Target and HomeGoods with a cup of coffee (it’s never too cold for iced coffee!)
I was born and raised in San Jose, California until I made the move across the country to great state of Texas to attend TCU (Go Frogs!). While at TCU, I earned my BBA in Accounting, BS inEconomics, and MS in Accounting, while also making lifelong friends and memories. After graduating, I obtained my CPA and started at Deloitte in the Audit and Assurance practice in Dallas.
During my time at Deloitte, I served a variety of clients, both public, private, and governmental. I tried to wet my feet with as many different industries, which included real estate, manufacturing, technology, financial services, and consumer products. My experiences with these clients taught me about technical accounting, how to manage both time and people, and how to solve complex problems. I appreciated working for Deloitte, but I knew that audit was not going to be what I wanted to do for my career.
I left to work in industry as a senior financial reporting accountant with a midsized private oil and gas company in Fort Worth, TX that I had previously worked at during my time at TCU. However, I missed the client service aspect of public accounting, but not the hours and grind. I knew I had to find something that would be the right fit and nurture my desire to help businesses succeed. Luckily, through some connections I knew already at Embark, I was able to find that perfect opportunity. I know that my skillset and experiences are being put to good use.
When I am not working, I spend most of my time traveling wherever and however I can around the state, country, and world. In those cities, I enjoy finding good food, good coffee, and good beer while seeing the sites.
I was born and raised in Plano, TX and attended the University of Texas at Dallas for my undergrad and Master's in Accounting. While at UTD, I had the privilege of serving as the President of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and had the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs in Sydney, Australia and Marburg, Germany, which fueled my passion for traveling.
After completing my Master's and CPA License, I began my career at EY in the Assurance practice. I worked on public clients, mostly in the retail and restaurant industries. Throughout my time at EY, I gained valuable technical experience and learned that my favorite part of audit was working through new challenges and building client relationships. When I learned about Embark, I knew that this would be a great fit! I joined Embark to further develop these experiences and to positively impact clients by helping them solve problems.
Outside of work I love exploring new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and traveling abroad whenever I can!
I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and moved to Dallas, where I was able to play soccer for the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) NCAA soccer team. While at UTD I graduated with degrees in accounting and was able to become a Teaching Assistant within the accounting department. After college, I began my career at Deloitte in the Dallas audit practice.
While at Deloitte I gained a greater understanding of accounting and management processes that helped me really start to connect the accounting and management functions of a business. However, during my time in public I very quickly realized that I wanted to add a greater value to the companies I served by helping implement the functions and processes, instead of just auditing them. During this time of realization, I was introduced to Embark where this idea had become a reality.
I’m passionate about helping businesses, adding real value, and problem-solving within a team environment. At Embark, I am thankful that this is an everyday opportunity. At the end of the day, my goal is to add value to the clients we serve in whatever way that may be.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife exploring new places and visiting US National Parks. I have put my faith in Jesus Christ and am thankful everyday for the grace I have been shown.
I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and moved to Dallas to go to the University of Texas at Dallas, to receive my undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting. I chose UTD because I knew they had a great accounting program, and because I was recruited to play soccer there. During graduate school, I worked as a teaching assistant for the accounting department, and as soon as I was done with my course work I jumped into public accounting at Deloitte in their audit and assurance practice. Both positions helped me gain a more holistic view of accounting and business processes that I will forever be grateful for. I was not planning to leave public accounting but a friend of mine reached out to me about a financial consulting firm that saw themselves as a team from top to bottom, that wanted to create value wherever possible, and was actively concerned for the well-being of their clients and team members. I had to investigate this place called Embark.
I’m passionate about creating value wherever possible. I love seeing an issue and creating a solution. I enjoy starting something and seeing it through completion even if it isn’t a quick fix to ensure that value was attained. I want to be the resource that a company needs no matter what that role looks like.
Outside of work, I love serving alongside my beautiful, joyful and caring wife at our church in the elementary ministry. I have put my hope and faith in Jesus Christ because of my deep need for grace and redemption. I want to be known for the way that I love and serve others, at Embark I get to love and serve others daily.
I was born and raised in Wichita, KS and went to The University of Kansas. A few of my most memorable experiences while attending KU include: studying abroad in Italy, teaching an undergraduate accounting course, leading my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, as President, and attending almost every home KU basketball game. After receiving my Bachelors and Masters degrees, I moved to Dallas and began working at PwC in their Financial Services group.
While at PwC, I worked on private engagements within the asset management and real estate industries. My time at PwC improved my technical accounting and analytical skills while learning to work in a fast-paced environment. I have always been a problem-solver, wanting to implement better solutions, and Embark proves to be the perfect fit. Embark is full of passionate and intelligent individuals working hard to solve the clients’ challenges and I am lucky to be part of the team.
In my free time I love watching sports (especially the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks), exploring new restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops around the awesome city of Dallas, and spending time with my family and friends. Rock Chalk!
I am originally from the DFW area, but I have lived and traveled all over the great state of Texas. I graduated with a BBA and Masters in Accounting from the University of Texas. Hook ‘em!
I began my accounting career in KPMG’s Dallas audit practice, providing audit services and reporting guidance to a variety of public and private clients, including healthcare providers, higher education, CROs, NFPs, and state/local governments. While I loved the team environment, challenging problems, and client service aspects of audit, I felt that I could be more effective in a role that allowed me to work more directly on my client’s challenges. That’s when I found embark!
When I’m not plugging away in excel or nose deep in accounting, I enjoy going to concerts, playing tennis, biking, rock climbing, and meeting new people out and about in Dallas!
I was born and raised in Houston, TX with a basketball in my hands at all times. I then decided to attend the University of Texas at Dallas to play basketball as well as pursue an Accounting degree. During my time at UTD I was accepted into the PPA Accounting program and the rest is history. I graduated with my Masters in Accounting in 2015 and began to sit for the CPA.
While wrapping up the CPA I began my career as an auditor at PwC in Dallas, specifically the Private Client Services practice. Beginning my professional life in PCS was great for personal and professional development. Working on private clients gave me the opportunity to gain experience in many different industries, including but not limited to manufacturing, retail, wind energy, and technology. After 2 years with PwC I transitioned to an Internal Auditor role at Lennox International, an HVAC Manufacturing company, where I stayed for a year and a half. The time spent at Lennox was very valuable as I was able to take on more of a SOX role, which included developing and testing internal controls, thus expanding my knowledge as an auditor.
In March of 2019 I decided that was enough audit for me and it was time for a change. I packed my bags and moved up to Denver to begin my career with Embark. I believe my past experience will help me to provide valuable service as a consultant to our clients and I can’t wait to keep on learning and building relationships everyday!
When I’m not behind a laptop, I am typically spending time with my dog, Cobie, playing basketball, attending concerts, or cheering on my Spurs of San Antonio and North London!
I was born just a few blocks over from Deep Ellum at the Baylor University Medical Center, and was raised in Carrollton, TX. I attended Hebron High School and The University of Texas at Dallas #whoosh before spending three years at EY in the audit practice, and mainly within the industries of healthcare, multimedia, retail, and real estate.
While at EY, I built amazing relationships and networks while being challenged consistently – aka the Big 4 all-in-one experience – which significantly helped elevate my career. I was placed in situations pushing me to limits I did not know I was capable of and used those experiences to improve all aspects of my professional and personal life. Being able to perform audits from a granular-level as a staff, and high-level as a senior was a great way to gain experience in the industries listed above and improve my project management skills and technical account knowledge.
Outside of the office, I love watching sports with friends and family, exploring Dallas, and binge-watching reruns from The Office and Friends. I’m a die-hard fan of all Dallas sports, specifically the Dallas Mavericks, and even the emotional rollercoaster, heart-attack Dallas Cowboys, aka America’s Team forever. Through my family and as a member of the Ismaili Muslim community, I have been taught the values of hard-work, generosity, and respect, which I will embody a member of the Embark team.
I am a Texas Native and grew up in Coppell, a suburb of Dallas. For college I was ready to try something new, so I headed to Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accountancy. As an added bonus, I was able to attend some of the most incredible college football games in the history of the sport (e.g. the “Kick Six” and “The Prayer in Jordan Hare” in 2013).
After graduating, I moved back to Dallas and began my career in the Audit practice at Ernst and Young. I worked on multiple private and public engagements with a specialization in Healthcare and Retail. Working in public accounting taught me valuable skills relating to time management, communication, teamwork, coaching, and problem solving, while also enhancing my technical accounting skills and competencies. My time at EY revealed my passion for solving complex problems. However, I found what I liked most was helping people and working as a team to achieve goals. This led me to Embark where I am able to collaborate with others in finding solutions and building relationships.
Outside of work, you can find me outside biking, walking my yellow lab, playing tennis, rock climbing, or doing any other physical activity that keeps me from having to workout. I really enjoy cooking and spending time with my family and friends. You also need to be prepared to hear an occasional dad joke from me. I’ll know that I have succeeded if you roll your eyes or groan.
I am “saved by grace through faith” and I try my best to serve God in all that I do.
Originally born and raised in Plano, TX, I have always been a Dallas native at heart. I obtained my undergraduate BBA and Master’s in Accountancy degrees from Baylor University (sic ‘em!). Not long after graduation, I moved back to the Dallas area, where I started my career in Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance practice.
At Deloitte, most of my time was spent serving a large client in the Public Utilities sector. I also worked on several oil and gas engagements, primarily performing due diligence work for debt offerings and registration statements. Through serving a client that was at the forefront of a major bankruptcy and business restructuring, I gained a TON of valuable experience. Because the Company was rebuilding its playbook from the ground up, I really learned which processes worked and didn’t work for the client, launching my appetite for identifying business process improvements. Further, this allowed me to tailor my client service approach to provide exceptional client service for our clients with ever-changing business needs.
The breadth of knowledge and client relationships developed are what I value most from my time at Deloitte. Now, at Embark, I look forward to further developing these experiences and providing our clients exceptional service. My ultimate passion is to help businesses find meaningful solutions for their everyday challenges. It’s what I do best - evaluating a project to identify areas prime for improvement and coming up with solutions to achieve just that.
Outside of work, I love finding opportunities to stay active and pursue my fitness goals. You’ll also find me attending the next best concert in town and hanging out with friends and family by the lake, enjoying the warm sunny days that Texas has to offer.
I was born and raised in Denver. After graduating from high
school, I was eager for new experiences, so I moved to Waco, Texas to attend Baylor University. While I was there, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in London. After graduating with my BBA and Masters in Accounting, I moved to Dallas and began working at PwC in the Financial Services group.
During my time at PwC, I worked on both public and private engagement across the asset management, real estate and banking industries.
My family is extremely important me and after 7 years in Texas, I knew that I needed to move back to Denver be closer to them. After hearing from a friend about how incredible Embark is and that they were expanding to Denver, I just knew I need to be a part of it.
Outside of work you can find me taking my adorable dog, Pippa, on a walk, trying out new restaurants with friends, volunteering at church or watching a good show on Netflix.
I am saved by grace through faith and I live with passion and purpose for the glory of God.
I grew up in a small town outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to Oklahoma State. I quickly fell in love with Stillwater and try to go back to at least one football game a year!
After finishing school and my CPA exam, I moved to Dallas and began my career at PwC. I was in the private company service group for two years. I met some amazing people there and gained a lot of knowledge. I worked on multiple engagements at PwC and spent a lot of time traveling for my main client. When I knew it was time to start something else, I sought out Embark after I heard many great things about working here.
When I’m not working, I love exploring with my friends in Dallas and traveling to other places. When I’m not out and about, I love to cuddle up with my dog, Rufus, and read or binge-watch TV (Friends, This is Us, and Criminal Minds to name a few). My family is also a huge part of my life, so I’m grateful that I can get in the car and drive just a few hours to go visit them!
Originally from Tyler, Texas, I decided to go to Fayetteville, Arkansas for my college years. I attended the University of Arkansas, where I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting. (WPS!) While in college, I studied abroad three times in Italy, India, and Ireland, which sparked my love for travel and discovering new places.
After my time in Fayetteville, I moved to Dallas to start my career with KPMG’s audit practice, where I served clients in various industries with an emphasis in oil and gas. Working in public accounting taught me valuable skills related to team management, communication, time management, and problem solving. But most importantly, I learned the importance of client relations and teamwork – skills which eventually led me to Embark.
Outside of work, you can find me spending time with friends and family. I enjoy trying new restaurants, traveling, and exploring Dallas. Everyday, I love working alongside businesses with my Embark teams!
I was born and raised in Plano, Texas. I obtained my Masters in Accounting from Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!
I started my career in the Dallas audit practice with EY. During my time at EY, I worked on multiple public and private engagements and specialized in Real Estate and Healthcare. Working in public accounting taught me valuable life lessons and helped me refine my technical accounting skills.
I’ve always enjoyed working in teams, problem-solving, and have a passion for helping others, which led me to working as a consultant for Embark.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my family, friends or with my mini Goldendoodle, Annie. I also enjoy working out and traveling as much as possible!
I grew up in San Antonio, Texas and obtained my BBA and Masters in Accounting from Baylor University. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Dallas to begin my career in the audit practice with KPMG. During my two and a half years, I gained valuable experience in providing integrated financial audit services to a variety of clients in the manufacturing, retail, and oil & gas industries. My favorite parts about the time I spent in public accounting are the professional relationships I built and the time spent interacting with clients. I learned the importance of good communication, organization, and management skills in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented world.
When I realized that I was ready for a career change, the Lord presented me with the opportunity to join Embark and I could not be happier! Embark is the perfect avenue which allows me to continue to provide value to the business sector while also allowing me to embrace the beauty of time well spent outside of work. Outside of work, you’ll most likely find me outdoors exploring yummy or new eats, or traveling with my family and friends.
Originally from Oklahoma City, I attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Master’s in Accounting (go Pokes!).
Afterwards, I made my way to Dallas to work for EY in the Audit practice. During my time at EY, I was assigned to multiple private and public engagements in differing industries, although I worked primarily in Restaurant and Retail. I had the opportunity to work on SOX 404 implementation as well as expanding my skills in multiple areas of technical accounting processes at EY.
My experience at EY gave me the ability to recognize the importance of communication and analytical skills while working on fast-paced projects. I truly enjoyed working with my peers and realized my favorite part of working in accounting at EY is the opportunity to solve problems. Therefore, working as a consultant for Embark is a perfect fit.
Outside of my accounting world, I spend time running, practicing yoga, attempting to play tennis (key-word attempting), reading, and binge-watching all the streaming shows. As well, I love to spend time with friends and family.
I grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas, with degrees in accounting. I was fortunate enough to captain the NCAA soccer team during my time at UTD. After college, I worked in industry for a real estate brokerage company, before joining a public accounting firm, in their Financial Service practice. I gained plenty of experience and knowledge while working in industry and public accounting, but had a longing to add value to growing businesses and build genuine relationships with clients.
I’m passionate about helping businesses, teamwork, and problem-solving; Embark provided an ample opportunity to combine all three. I’m excited to learn what makes our clients tick, as well as serve and add value to already thriving businesses.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, Alisa, my daughter, Grace, our dog, Gunner, and family and friends. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ and reminded daily of the grace and love of God, and of my need for a savior. I'm humbled to work with such a great team while doing what I love.
I was born and raised in the small town of Rockne, Texas and moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University. Upon obtaining my bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in finance, I moved to Austin where I started my public accounting career at EY within the assurance practice.
During my time in Austin, I served on multiple public and private tech, biotech, and real estate engagements. After three years of enjoying the live music capital of the world, I transferred to the Seattle office where I primarily served on clients within the biotech and tech industries. During my time at EY, I was exposed to numerous clients, large and small, where I was challenged to address numerous complex matters including companies undergoing first-time SOX implementation, multiple first-year financial statement audits, and implementation of new accounting standards. My time at EY revealed my passion for being side-by-side with the clients all awhile understanding, documenting, and solving their complex accounting matters. It was this (along with escaping the Seattle rain) that led me to join Embark’s Denver office where I am leveraging my experiences to achieve client goals, adding value by consistently seeking the best solutions, building internal and external relationships, and mentoring team members.
Outside of work, you can find me spending time with family and friends, discovering the beauty of Mother Nature, searching for the best cup of coffee, exploring local breweries, enjoying live music, watching Fightin’ Texas Aggie football, and rewatching episodes of Parks and Rec.
I grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago before attending Illinois State University where I obtained my Bachelors of Science and Master of Professional Accountancy degrees. I started my career on PwC Chicago's assurance market team, but after being in Chicago for almost 3 years, I decided to make a spontaneous move to the PwC Denver office.
As much as I valued my time with PwC, after almost 5 years auditing the financial services industry, I decided it was time for a change. I was immediately drawn to Embark's relationships with their clients and staff, challenging projects, and the collaborative team culture.
Outside of work, I enjoy Orangetheory Fitness, hiking with my siberian husky, traveling, attending Denver sporting events (but go Cubbies!), and aspiring to be the next Joanna Gaines on HGTV!
I am originally from Arkansas, but I moved to Dallas to explore different opportunities and go on new adventures. I obtained my BBA in Accounting with honors from the University of Central Arkansas.
After college, I worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Little Rock in the audit practice for 3 years. I was fortunate to work on a variety of different clients, both public and private, providing value and creating efficiencies.
At Embark, I utilize my broad accounting and auditing experience from PwC to assist clients with whatever type of problem that may arise and to implement solutions that work for them and most of all, make their lives easier!
In my free time, you can find me at the park with my wife and yellow lab, Ralph. I love finding new restaurants, traveling the world, and exploring big cities.
Born and raised in the Dallas area, I earned my BBA and MPA from Stephen F. Austin State University. As an avid SFA sports fan (Axe'em Jacks!) I try and make it back to Nacogdoches as often as I can.
After my time in Nac, I moved to Houston to start my career in KPMG's audit practice. During my two and a half years there, I specialized in the oil and gas industry and spent the majority of my time working on a large public oil field services client.
My passion is helping people and here at Embark I get to do just that! I work to provide solutions to client problems by doing whatever is needed.
When I'm not working, I am more than likely spending time with my wife and our new baby girl and trying to figure out how to be a good dad and point her to Christ.
I’m a lifelong Texan, born and raised in East Texas in a small town called Wolfe City. After high school, I flipped to the complete other side of the state to attend Texas Tech University, where I earned both my Master’s and Bachelor’s in Accounting, and during this time I interned with Grant Thornton, LLP in Dallas, TX.
After graduating and obtaining my CPA, I started my career with Grant Thornton in the Dallas office’s Audit practice, specializing in upstream O&G clients, as well as working with clients in industries such as oilfield services, commercial products, and financial services.
After four years with GT, I went into the finance department with Trinity Industries, a Dallas-based corporation that provides a wide range of rail and industrial services, working primarily in their Leasing division.
In my career, I’ve been able to work with a wide range of companies and clients, including both public and private entities, large and small, in addition to being involved with companies undergoing first-time SOX implementation, new system implementations, acquisitions, implementation of new audit standards, and financial modeling. At Embark, I always look forward to new and challenging situations and using my background and experiences to bring a fresh perspective to help our clients.
Outside of work, I’m a huge fan of college football and basketball (Wreck ‘Em), and I spend most weekends watching sports and probably spending way too much time and effort trying out new recipes in the kitchen. I also love traveling to new places and countries to experience different cultures.
I grew up in Rockwall, Texas, and eventually moved the short distance to Dallas to pursue a BBA in Accounting from SMU. After graduating, I ventured down to Austin to be a Longhorn and got my Master’s in Accounting from The University of Texas.
I moved back to Dallas to begin my career at PwC in the private company services audit group, where I primarily served clients within the consumer products and technology industries. During my time in Big-4 audit, I learned how businesses function at a granular level, honed my technical accounting and project management skills, and served as a resource for clients on time-sensitive accounting and financial reporting issues.
Through my experience, I’ve learned the value of authentic relationships and effective problem-solving in order to help both clients and my teams. I joined Embark because I am enthusiastic about finding solutions to important problems at a more “hands-on” level and helping clients succeed.
When I’m not at work, I love all things music, tending to my novice garden, and enjoying the best tacos and beer Texas has to offer. You can also frequently find me enjoying a great TV show with those I love (including my two rescue cats and a cattle dog named Barb).
I grew up in Post Falls, ID and moved to Dallas after high school to attend the University of Texas at Dallas and play soccer for the women’s collegiate team. I graduated from UTD with both a BS and MS in Accounting. After graduation, I spent three years at Ernst & Young in the assurance practice, focusing on both public and private clients primarily in the real estate industry. While at EY, I gained experience in project management, financial reporting, SOX implementation, and furthered my understanding of technical accounting.
My time at EY allowed me to discover my passion for building relationships and solving problems in a fast-paced environment surrounded by my peers. Embark will enable me to do these things while also giving our clients’ peace of mind by addressing any needs that may arise.
Outside of work, you can find me hanging out with my husband, Cole, and our dog, Tank, playing soccer, or binge-watching The Office on Netflix
I was born and raised in Texas, spending most of my life in the little town of Brownwood (and am constantly reminded how small our world is when I meet people who have actually heard of it). Coming from a long line of Aggies and being taught the yells and traditions from an early age, Texas A&M was an easy decision when it came to choosing a college. After spending three years in College Station and graduating with my BBA in Accounting, I moved to Dallas and started my career in Deloitte's audit practice. During my two years there, I worked on multiple engagements and specialized in real estate.
Starting in audit, I gained valuable technical knowledge and a better understanding of companies' operations, but I learned what I enjoyed most was the client interaction and helping them solve problems. At Embark, I love the opportunity consulting provides to make a positive impact on our clients and build relationships while improving their businesses.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my husband or at a dog park with my golden retriever, Beckham. Being raised in a small town in the middle of Texas, I never imagined living in a big city, but Dallas has become home for my little family, and we love all the exciting things it has to offer!
I was born and raised in Weatherford Texas, also known as the cutting horse capital of the world. After graduating high school, I went to Stephen F Austin in deep east Texas (Nacogdoches). After graduating with my BS in Accounting I interned with Deloitte Dallas and enrolled at Texas Christian University (TCU) to receive my Masters in Professional Accounting. Then returned to Dallas to start full time with Deloitte.
While I was with Deloitte, I served a range of industries including real estate investment trusts, consumer products, and the railroad, however, I specialized in upstream Oil and Gas. I enjoyed getting to experience a large variation in terms of clients and the technical accounting or control issues that they presented. After my time with Deloitte, I spend time working for an asset manager/hedge fund where I gained valuable experience by seeing the challenges companies face daily.
At Embark, I’m challenged to bring all my skills to the table with our clients. Whether that be increasing process efficiency, SOX control implementation, and/or GL system implementation. I strive to provide value added results that fit our clients’ needs, providing a positive impact for their business.
Outside of work, I can be very hard to find. I’m almost always outdoors working on one of my many hobbies, rather it be team roping, fishing, TCU/Rangers baseball games, at the gym, or preparing for a trip up into the mountains.
Originally from El Paso, I obtained my BBA and Masters in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. After taking the CPA exam, I moved to Dallas where I began my career with EY in the audit practice. There I worked primarily in the software / technology industry, but also on health care and real estate clients. After three years in Dallas with EY, I moved back to Austin where I worked for a software company in a revenue accounting role. At Embark, I enjoy building relationships with clients and solving problems – the things we do best!
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring the Austin restaurant scene, and being with friends and family, including my fiancé and our golden retriever, Ruby.
I grew up in a small town outside of Houston, Texas, before making my way to College Station where I attended Texas A&M University. Whoop! After graduating from Texas A&M, I started my career at PwC in Houston.
My time in public accounting started with a focus on a Fortune 500 company that specializes in oil and gas. There, I worked in a fast-paced environment and obtained valuable experience around internal controls and SOX compliance. After a year, my husband received a transfer to Denver, CO, and we've been here ever since. I transferred from PwC Houston to Denver and spent another year and a half in the public accounting world with exposure to both private and public companies. I learned about organizational efficiency and identified areas of internal process improvement for my clients. This knowledge equipped me as I left PwC and continued my career working from the ground up in private industry. It was during this time that I had the opportunity to see full circle, from entering AP invoices to managing the day-to-day accounting functions of an accounting department staff. While my time in industry was invaluable, I realized I missed the client interaction of public accounting. With Embark, I am thrilled to be able to utilize my accounting experience to add value to my clients while also creating lasting relationships.
Outside of work, you can find me pursuing my fitness goals, traveling as much as I can, or walking my golden retriever with my husband. We are expecting our first child this year and I can’t wait for all the exciting things God has in store for us in the future! I love all Houston sports and like any true Texan, I am obsessed with college football. Gig’em Aggies!
I grew up in Chilton, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a B.B.A in accounting as well as my master’s in professional accountancy. During my time in college, I was a starting pitcher on the baseball team.
After graduating, I moved to Milwaukee and began my career with Ernst & Young servicing both public and private clients primarily in the manufacturing industry. However, my main client was in the retail industry (department store Kohl’s), which allowed me to gain experience in a SOX environment, better understand financial reporting and develop my technical accounting skills. Auditing was a great place to start my career, but eventually I transitioned into several industry roles. My most recent experience was at a mid-size manufacturing company in Milwaukee, where I wore both a corporate accounting and SEC reporting hat. This expanded my skill set tremendously as I worked through a SAP implementation, managed the Corporate close process and was the main preparer on the Company’s 10-Q/10-K filings.
Outside of work, I am very passionate about health and fitness as I spend most of my time being active (lifting weights, hiking, any sporting activity). I am a die-hard fan of any Wisconsin sports team, specifically the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
I was born and raised in Texas and grew up in a small town outside of Waco called China Spring. I stayed close to home and went to Baylor University where I graduated with a BBA and Master’s in Accounting. After graduating from Baylor, I moved to Dallas to start my career in public accounting within Deloitte’s audit practice.
While at Deloitte, I worded on several engagements but focused primarily on the real estate and financial services industries. At Deloitte I gained valuable experience in financial reporting, technical accounting and internal controls. I was also fortunate to be in a team-lead position early in my career where I was able to leverage and develop my people skills in order to successfully manage my team but also client relationships. After my time with Deloitte, I spent some time in industry with a combined private equity/hedge fund where I gained invaluable experience seeing the business “from the other side”.
At Embark, I utilize my accounting and people skills gained in my experience to collaborate with clients, help them with any issues that may arise and provide a positive impact on their business.
Outside of work, you can find me spending time with friends and family, in the gym or attempting to train my black lab, Drake. I am also a huge Dallas sports fan, living and dying weekly at the hands of Baylor football and the Dallas Cowboys.
Born and raised in Texas, I grew up in the small town of Whitesboro near Lake Texoma. I attended the University of Texas in Austin where I ran track (more specifically pole-vaulted) and received my BS and MS in Accounting. After graduating from UT, I moved to Dallas where I started my career in public accounting at Deloitte’s audit practice.
During my time at Deloitte, I worked on multiple engagements and specialized in the hedge fund and private equity industries. Through my experience in audit at Deloitte, I gained experience in financial reporting, internal controls and technical accounting. I had the opportunity to see several different organizations and business structures, but what I enjoyed most was problem solving and building relationships with clients. I joined the Embark team to pursue those interests where I can help others and collaborate with clients to have a positive impact on their businesses.
Outside of work, you can find me playing basketball, attempting to learn how to play the violin, and spending time with friends and family.
I’m a local guy, born and raised in the DFW suburb of Lewisville. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas where I was part of the Professional Program in Accounting. Upon graduating, I joined Grant Thornton’s Dallas Audit practice.
During my three years with Grant Thornton, I led teams in several industries including manufacturing and consumer products, non-profit, and technology. I enjoyed managing multiple on-going engagements, solving accounting problems, and getting to know my clients. After my time with Grant Thornton, I spent two years with a leading Texas-based homebuilder as a Sr. Financial Analyst in a combined finance and accounting role. My responsibilities included building land purchase financing models, forecasting cash flows, and providing financial reports to the executive team.
I gained an immense amount of knowledge during my time in industry, but I also learned a lot about myself. I realized I enjoyed the dynamic, fast-paced world of client service and missed interacting with clients. With Embark, I am excited to solve problems and add value to clients in a setting that allows me to grow my business and gain knowledge.
My entire motivation in life centers around my wife and two kids. I enjoy cooking new recipes, roughhousing with my son, and endlessly kissing my daughter’s cheeks. Two kids and three dogs keep us pretty busy, but my free time is spent following Dallas sports teams, learning to golf with buddies, and taking the kids to spend time with grandparents.
As a Dallas native, I grew up loving all things Texan. I attended UT Austin and graduated from the Business Honors and Masters in Professional Accounting program. With a curiosity for travel and interest in other cultures, I studied abroad twice - in Prague and Sydney.
I began my career in Deloitte's audit practice, specializing in real estate. I led multiple engagements and worked closely with asset management groups and valuation specialists. During my time there, I discovered a passion for finding the best solution to a problem and coordinated several workshops to enhance the auditor-client relationship and understanding of complex accounting items. Here at Embark I am excited to add value to our clients, deliver meaningful solutions, and help make work run smoother!
Outside of work, you can find me at the park with my husband and dog, Daisy. I’m a big fan of pilates, trying new restaurants, and exploring new cities – big or small. And above everything else, I am constantly pursuing my relationship with Christ
I grew up in Fort Worth and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
After college, I began my career at Deloitte in the Dallas audit practice where, for nearly three years, I served a variety of clients and industries. I then spent over three years in the internal audit group at Verizon where I led multidisciplinary teams in the execution of highly visible operational, financial, and SOX audits. Most recently, I was at Toyota Financial Services where I served as Assistant Controller for a Toyota subsidiary. At TFS, I was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting related to an insurance services company.
At Embark, I use my love for constant learning, building relationships, and solving problems, and my diverse professional experiences, to serve our clients excellently.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing basketball, watching just about any sporting event (but especially the Longhorns and Cowboys), and good coffee and food. Finally, I love to travel the world and experience new places and cultures.
I was born and raised in Dallas. I love everything about Texas. I graduated with my BA and MPA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. From there, I worked two years in public accounting with BDO, LLP, where I specialized in the oil and gas industry.
Here at Embark, I’m a Financial Consultant performing advisory services that include preparation for IPO procedures, accounting research, and implementation and testing of internal audit procedures. If you’d like to know more about me, check out my full profile on LinkedIn!
I hope to start my own business one day that will serve the community and put smiles on people’s faces. Besides work, I love to pursue my faith, play sports, laugh, and enjoy the small things in life. Life motto: never settle for mediocrity.
I hail from the great state of Kansas but traded the hail storms and tornadoes of Kansas for the hail storms and tornadoes of Texas when I went to school at Baylor University to earn a BBA in Accounting & International Business as well as a Master's in Accounting.
After school, I worked with the CPA* firm KPMG and specialized in audits of Oil and Gas E&P companies. I also spent a number of years working in the oil industry as an Internal Auditor and Accountant where my main focus was setting our people free to do what they do best by improving processes and eliminating red tape.
Outside of work, you'll find me wrangling my children, traveling to visit our far-flung family, or enjoying hiking and camping trips
I am originally from the Oklahoma City area (Mustang), but I have called Tulsa home since 2005. Between OKC and Tulsa, I spent four years in Stillwater obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!).
Upon graduation, I began my professional career in the audit practice of KPMG, working primarily on energy, healthcare, insurance, and manufacturing clients. After three years, I entered the energy industry at Helmerich & Payne, working in internal audit (SOX compliance) and international accounting (FCPA compliance; six months in Bogota!). Five years later, I decided to join the challenging and ever-changing world of private equity-backed E&P companies. In those eight years, I led the accounting departments of three companies through eight acquisitions, three system implementations, and a merger.
I enjoy building teams, establishing processes and controls, standing up systems, managing the monthly/quarterly/annual accounting cycle, and providing officer-focused analyses. Establishing and maintaining relationships (with clients, co-workers, friends, etc.) is also important to me. Embark affords me the opportunity to utilize my experience to assist our clients in many ways. My career has prepared me to take on any challenge and see it through to completion.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, Kristen, two boys, Owen and Easton, and one pup, Lolo. Not many dull moments at our house! I enjoy playing golf, running, and being outdoors. Being an OSU sports fanatic and music enthusiast, Gallagher-Iba Arena, Boone Pickens Stadium, and Cain’s Ballroom are a few of my happy places.
I am originally from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, which is a suburb of New York City, and decided to stay nearby for college by attending Rider University to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.
After graduating, I spent almost nine years (the last four in Denver) in the audit practice at Deloitte, managing engagement teams serving primarily large, public financial institutions in the insurance and investment management space. In addition to client service, I was involved in creation of industry guidance, facilitating national and local trainings, and developing meaningful relationships.
At Embark, I’m continuing to develop relationships with our incredible team, amazing clients, and anyone else that would be interested in hearing about Embark. (Please don’t hesitate to reach out!) I will also be leveraging the skills I gained in public accounting to help our clients find solutions for any problem they might be facing.
When I’m not helping our clients, my wife (Katie) and I love to travel, ski, golf, go to sporting events, and continue expanding our ever-growing list of our favorite restaurants in Denver. Being an avid golfer and wanting to give back to the community, I currently serve as the treasurer of The First Tee of Denver, which is the second largest chapter in The First Tee network, serving over 8,000 children throughout Colorado.
I am from Austin, TX and earned my Bachelors in Accounting and Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas.
After graduation, I spent the first three years of my career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Advisory services. I then spent almost four years at 7-Eleven performing traditional internal audits, SOX compliance and financial planning. Most recently, I worked with Alon USA doing traditional internal audit and SOX compliance. If you’d like to know more about me, check out my full profile on LinkedIn!
Here at Embark, I look forward to leveraging my broad accounting, finance, and audit experience from PwC, 7-Eleven, Alon to help our clients implement solutions that meet their needs.
Outside of work, I spend time with my family and I usually have a camera in hand. I have been known to build things around the house (including a manual Polaroid camera affectionately named "The Franken-roid") and do remodeling projects from time to time.
I am originally from the Dallas/Fort Worth area (Plano), but I lived in Austin for a total of 13 years, including time earning my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from UT-Austin.
After college, I worked for Deloitte in Austin in the audit practice for 6 years, serving a variety of industries, including manufacturing, government, insurance, oil & gas, retail, distribution, utility, hospitality, and higher education clients. I also gained invaluable experience in industry for 2 years with Golfsmith International.
At Embark, I utilize my broad accounting and auditing experience at Deloitte and Golfsmith to assist clients with whatever type of problem that may arise.
In my free time, I enjoy spending lots of time with my wife and young son. I also am involved in my faith and church, and thoroughly enjoy running, boxing, and attending as many sporting events as possible.
I was born in Texas, but raised all over the globe. I attended the University of Utah and earned my BA in accounting. From there, I started my career at Deloitte in San Jose, CA.
During my 6 and half years there, I primarily served the technology, media, and telecommunications sector. I was fortunate to work on clients that ranged from large public companies to small start-ups. While there, I honed my skill through researching and interpreting complex accounting issues, building relationships, and mentoring other work associates.
In 2013, my family and I moved to Texas to take a position at a software company as a revenue manager and most recently as a corporate controller. During my time in industry, I participated in acquisitions, implementing new accounting guidance, and leading the implementation of SOX.
At Embark, I look forward to challenging the status quo, mentoring others, and utilizing my background to assist clients.
Outside of work, you will find me spending time with my wife and children. You will find us at soccer fields, basketball courts, choir concerts, dance practice, and serving in our church.
I grew up here in Dallas, TX, before attending Texas A&M University (Whoop!), where I graduated with a degree in accounting. I always knew that Dallas would be the place I call home, so after my brief stint in College Station, I made the move back to the city to begin my career.
I loved accounting, but it was fairly soon into my career that I realized I loved talking about it a bit more than doing it, and in turn have spent the last 4+ years helping other accountants find jobs they truly love. I feel extremely fortunate to be here at Embark and for the opportunity to play a role in the continued growth and success of our team.
Outside of work you can usually find me scanning google flights for last minute deals, treasure hunting at local thrift shops, working my way through a never ending list of restaurants to try, or hanging out at Katy Trail Ice House with friends.
Born and raised in St. Louis, I couldn’t imagine leaving the midwest for college, so I attended the University of Missouri for undergrad (M-I-Z!) where I developed a love for organizational psychology and college football. I booked a trip to visit a friend in Dallas the summer after graduation, and after my first taste of queso, the rest was history. Shortly after, I made Texas home and started my career at EY in the experienced hire recruiting department.
I quickly realized my passion for finding recent grads like myself a home in the working world, and thus made the transition to campus recruiting for EY within my first year. My career in campus ran the gamut of talent functions, from the initial stages of sourcing to interviews to onboarding and orientation. Most importantly, I learned just how valuable fostering strong relationships is in building a great team, which ultimately drew me to Embark. I felt energized and inspired by each person I met, and was eager to help contribute to the company’s seemingly endless growth opportunity. I’m thrilled to help the team grow while remaining intentional, authentic, and invested in our people.
When I’m not on campus, I love practicing yoga, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I’m always down for a spontaneous trip and a good happy hour!
I am a Denver native who loves every minute in this great city. I graduated with my Masters in Accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder. My career started at Deloitte in the audit practice where I earned my CPA. I eventually made the decision to pivot my career and transitioned into a talent role with the firm. I’ve never looked back.
My career in talent has been focused on accounting/finance organizations and a variety of opportunities ranging from entry-level recruiting to on-boarding & performance management to retention & engagement to CFO search. I enjoy working at the confluence of technology and people to strategically build strong teams primed for long-term success.
Weaved into my work in talent is my love for outdoor activities, giving back to the community, all kinds of music, cooking, hosting events, and traveling the world. I am always open to the chance to meet new people over a beverage.
I grew up in the Show Me State and to my Dad’s dismay began college pursuing an art education. Within a short time and at the urging of my parents, I switched gears and changed to accounting, graduating from the University Central Missouri. Great decision! It has opened the door to possibilities I wouldn’t have imagined.
My career started in audit for a few years then led to the student loan industry where I took a really diverse role that involved coordinating audits, monitoring contracts and regulatory changes, as well as working in finance. I loved this role and the exposure it gave me to interacting with so many types of people in an ever changing industry.
Tulsa came calling and I fell into the accounting and financial recruiting world where I have met some of the best people and made this city my home. This work helped me carve out my spot in this market. It has allowed me to do what I love...meeting people, hearing their stories, building relationships, solving problems and impacting lives.
I now look forward to sharing Embark with the Oklahoma/NW Arkansas market and continuing to develop relationships with those who want to do things the right way.
I have an amazing teenage son who is active in sports and music. His commitments keep me busy. I also love creative cooking, reading, and always being active...I rarely sit still. I just began getting back into drawing and painting to keep the right side of the brain active too!
I grew up just outside of Dallas with dreams of becoming an interior designer, but my Dad encouraged me to check out Accounting. Talk about a 180! I studied Accounting and Economics at The University of North Texas and signed up for every study abroad program I could along the way.
After college, I spent a few years at KPMG in the Advisory practice with a focus on Internal Audit and spent a lot of time helping with campus recruiting. I then transitioned to agency recruiting, where I leveraged my network and accounting knowledge to help companies in DFW staff their Accounting and Finance teams. My clients ranged from PE-backed startups to Fortune 500 companies, in just about every industry, where I placed Staff Accountants to Controllers. Through this experience, I’ve seen a huge need for companies to find a strategic partner with a professional services firm, and now I’m looking forward to making sure Embark is in their corner!
I love meeting new people and learning how companies get started and grow, while working through all the problems along the way. At Embark, I continue to focus on building relationships with Accounting and Finance leaders, and I am excited to partner with companies in new ways to help solve their problems!
Outside of work, you’ll find me and my husband, David, renovating our home (keeping the interior design dream alive!) and spending time with our daughter, Sloane. I love hot yoga, cooking, and exploring all the fun things Dallas has to offer.
I am a CPA and Baylor University Accounting grad. I began my career in Assurance/Audit at Ernst & Young where I focused on Real Estate, O&G, and Transportation. For the last 11 years, I have spent my time helping people in Finance & Accounting find rewarding careers. I’m passionate about building relationships and helping others solve problems.
I grew up in Dallas and have 5 brothers & sisters. I believe my wife, Jessica, is the most amazing human being in the world. We have 4 active and captivating kids that love gymnastics, soccer, scooters, parks, & the weekends! I love spending time with my family and friends and I love the outdoors. I love to read and obsessed with productivity hacks.
I go to Park Cities Baptist Church and I am a follower of Christ. I am grateful for Jesus unending love and pursuit of a deep relationship with me!
I’m not from Austin but got here as fast as I could – by way of Dallas to attend The University of Texas at Austin where I received my Bachelor’s and Masters in Accounting. Next up was, you guessed it- time spent in a Big 4 audit practice! I spent 4 years in the Deloitte Austin office where I served a variety of industries, including manufacturing, insurance, and healthcare.
After my time at Deloitte, I spent 4 years in accounting roles ranging from Accounting Manager to Controller in Austin. What I learned from this experience is that a strong professional services provider can make or break the success of an accounting function. A provider who does not endeavor to understand the client they are serving, company goals or the culture of the organization will always end up causing more problems than they solve. I joined Embark because I am excited to bring a provider to the Austin market who will not only help you solve your accounting problems but will be a genuine pleasure to have in your organization.
I live in South Austin with my husband, who is a born and raised Austin-ite. He is a radiographer at Seton Main on 38th and Lamar where he was born- talk about full circle! We are also graced with the presence of the World’s Best Dachshund. Her name is Monroe and she would very much like to lick your face. I am a voracious reader and vocal user of the Austin Public Library system. I hope to be eulogized one day as ‘she was a book with legs’. My love of reading has brought me to many of my passions, including healthy living, minimalism, and personal finance. My happy place is any outdoor activity, followed by beer and queso.
I am originally from Michigan where I attended Aquinas College. I studied Business Administration/Sports Management and was a member of the Saints baseball squad. I was fortunate enough to play in the school’s first College World Series as well as being named an All-American.
After being forced into retirement (due to my skill not translating to the professional level lol) I began my sales/business development career. For the last ten years, I have spent my time helping people in healthcare ranging from pharmaceutical, medical device, and post-acute care hospitals/facilities. I love when multiple companies can come together for the same common goal!
I’ll be carrying that same passion at Embark and I’ll be building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients while focusing and utilizing my knowledge in the healthcare space.
On a personal note, I am a follower of Christ first and foremost and am eternally grateful for what He has done for me! I believe my wife, Kaitlin, is the most incredible human being in the world, that our dog understands every word in the English language, that the B10 is always the best conference, that everyone should travel, and last….Superman ice cream is ridiculously good (travel up to Michigan if you don’t know what I’m talking about!)
I graduated from Oklahoma State University where studied Political Science and played golf for the Cowboys. After school, I turned professional and spent several years trying to make it out on the PGA Tour.
I eventually decided to hang up my clubs and get into the oil and gas business here in Dallas. My experience is on the land acquisitions side, buying and selling oil and gas leases and minerals.
At Embark, building and maintaining significant relationships with clients is how I spend my days. I am working to blend my understanding of the oil and gas space with the expertise of our advisory firm in order to help our clients improve their businesses.
My life has been changed by God's grace and by that I have been motivated to follow Christ and know Him more. I am thankful to have been blessed with my sweet wife and two boys. I love spending time with them, developing friendships, staying active, and reading whenever I can carve out a few spare minutes.
I didn’t know much beyond the Big XII growing up, so I ended up in Stillwater where I knocked out my BS in Finance from OSU. I tried to play basketball at OSU but never made the travel squad or suited up (There’s more to that story if you ever want to hear it. It changed my life forever!) and ended up just a practice dummy when the guys needed to build their confidence!
After OSU, I joined the Dallas audit practice of EY and at the same time had the honor of getting my Masters from the University of Virginia. It was basically in business with an emphasis in accounting but was officially an MS in Accountancy. UVA is awesome. Seriously in a class all by itself.
I knew from Day 1 that I wasn’t an auditor so I lasted just under two years. After that I went into building business for a Fortune 500 firm and quickly realized that I cause too many problems to be a good employee. So, I raised some capital and started a company called Elevate. I then founded Embark in 2010 and we’ve been running hard since!
Entrepreneurialism is the hardest AND most rewarding pursuit I’ve ever experienced. There is NO WAY I could function without the support of my wife. The ups and downs of growth can paralyze you without a strong, positive partner that knows when to make you laugh. Our kids challenge and fill us with love in ways we didn’t think possible and keep our perspective on life ever changing.
And all of this has been my story as I stumble along the path toward Christ. I’m a Follower of the Way and reminded daily that grace is amazing if you fully understand it. I'm trying to.
Strength & Honor.
I grew up in Waco, and earned both my BS and MS in Accounting from Texas Tech. I was a pitcher for the Texas Tech Raiders after transferring over from Texas A&M’s baseball program. I’m actually the answer to a niche trivia question: I was the first person to play in a Big 12 tournament for two different teams!
After school, I spent over 12 years with Deloitte in the Dallas and Austin audit practices, primarily serving public companies in a variety of different industries. I also spent some time in industry, outside of Deloitte.
At Embark, I provide leadership to our team, leverage my accounting knowledge and experience from Deloitte for our awesome clients, and help Embark continue to grow.
While I’m not at work, I spend my time with my wife and our four kids. We’re either on the golf course, playing some sort of competition in our backyard, or arguing over who’s changing the next diaper.
I received my BA in Marketing from Dallas Baptist University and a MS in Education from Southwestern. I played baseball at DBU and I am proud to have played my last game in a World Series. Unfortunately, on the losing end, but it’s better to have been there than never at all. I take peanut butter with me everywhere (is that weird?) and I love Jesus.
I have been in the people & process business my whole career. I love what I do because nothing is better than helping people do what they do well with the best tools possible.
I grew up Lake Jackson, Texas where I played softball every weekend and spent the summers helping out at my family’s local t-shirt shop. From an early age, I developed a passion for seeing businesses grow. When it was time for college, I knew I wanted to do two things: play softball and major in business. I landed at the University of Texas at Dallas to play softball
After college, I spent three years in a marketing role for a Fortune 500 company in Dallas before deciding to make the transition to a new position. When the opportunity to join the Embark team arose, I knew it was the place for me. With their fantastic culture, start-up atmosphere, and a role chock full of details and planning, I couldn’t have found a better fit.
Outside of work, I’m with my husband running after our toddler. I enjoy volunteering in the nursery at our church on Sundays and making trips to the library to find the latest book for book club.
I’ve spent most of my life in Dallas, Texas, minus my trip north of the Red River to attend the University of Oklahoma. Boomer! While at OU, I became an avid college football fan and earned a bachelors in Industrial Engineering as well as my MBA.
I came back to Dallas after graduating to work for AT&T as a Technology Solutions Manager. I helped with process implementation across the emerging technologies platforms. Basically, I love logistics and problem-solving! Now at Embark, that’s exactly what I get to do. Define and implement the processes.
My favorite things are seeing the world, baking and watching sports. Aside from that, I have a passion for mentoring the next generation at my church. I love getting to walk alongside my small group girls, showing them that I am an imperfect person who has been saved from her sin by the love of Jesus Christ!
People are people. At the same time both awesome and fickle.
Listening well and understanding all facets, needs, and stresses of people are the empowering pieces that enable me to serve them well. It's also critical for being able to put them in the right seat, at the right time.
My experiences in various sales environments, private equity fund development, the non-profit world (Team ASAP is GREAT!!), and being mentored by some of the best sales leaders and polished professionals have all helped prepare me to forge and develop the deep relationships it takes for Embark to be successful.
Knowing my time here on earth is brief, I face each waking moment with a thankful heart and try to impact as many lives as possible for the better. I’m a Texas Tech grad, Houston native, and I love my dog Judah!
Questions are answers, and I daily remember what Pontius Pilate asked, “Quid est veritas?” What is truth? This is the most important question we can ask, and the most important answer we can uncover.

Keep your swag fresh. Cheers!
My family moved to Dallas from York, Pennsylvania just in time to make me a true born Dallas Texan and I haven't found a reason to leave yet. After enrolling in the Professional Program in Accounting and earning an MS in Accounting and BS in Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas (I told you, Dallas is kind of my thing), I joined the Deloitte audit practice here in my home city.
During my three years with Deloitte, I primarily served the healthcare and real estate industries. I am thankful for large and dynamic engagements where I honed my skills in researching and interpreting complex technical accounting issues, documenting integrated process narratives, and identifying financial statement risk.
My Deloitte journey also included the opportunity to be in several team-lead roles, which I especially enjoyed as I was able to leverage relationships with people - particularly my immediate team, various Deloitte specialist groups and our clients - to help generate successful outcomes during financial statement audits, large scale revenue analytics implementation projects and initial recordings of intricate real estate transactions.
The relationships are what I most value from my experience at Deloitte and I look forward to building and growing future relationships at Embark while continuing to answer the bell for client needs.
When not at work, you can find me enjoying the company of friends, family, and my lovely wife, Lauren or playing flag football or indoor soccer. While pursuing my walk with Christ comes first and foremost, the Dallas Cowboys come in a close second on a just a few Sundays a year.
Born and raised in El Paso, I earned my BS in Health Science and Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso. After graduating I made the move to Dallas and went on to earn my MBA with a concentration in Accounting from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
I started my professional career at Baylor Scott & White Health (formally Baylor Health Care System) in the Finance realm supporting IT Operations. I later accepted a role with Children’s Medical Center of Dallas as an auditor, developing and growing over a four-year period; before transitioning back to BSWH in the world of audit.
At Embark, I’m challenged to think outside the box, increase efficiency and effectiveness of business process improvement, and maintain relationships. My goal is to provide result-driven solutions to my clients’ needs. If you’d like to know more about me, check out my full profile on LinkedIn!
Outside of Embark, I cherish my time with my wife and four-legged fur baby (a Westie named Mylo). I love working out and staying active; riding my bike around White Rock Lake, and cruising my Vespa around town looking for the new coffee shop, food truck or restaurant to try out.
I was born in Beaumont, Texas and attended Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. I came to Austin in 2001 and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Even as an Aggie in Austin, there is no better place on the planet! I’ve spent 18 years throughout corporate America. Working in ascending management positions with small start-ups, Fortune 500 companies and mid-size stand alone businesses in a variety of industries including Technology, Software, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing. I was fortunate to be the CFO of a $1B O&G manufacturing business over the past 2 years and this gives me a unique perspective on the challenges and needs of the role and the function.
At Embark, I provide leadership to our consultants and Business Development teams. I have a passion for helping others and look forward to solving problems in your world and helping Embark grow throughout the region.
While not working, I spend most of my time with my wife, Lauren and 4 kiddos, Kinley, Rylin, Taya and Ridge. Ridge is the only boy in the group and I would gladly trade places with him as he lives the life of a Prince! When time allows, I love watching College Football, enjoying the great outdoors in Austin, and chasing a little white ball. To quote the great British golfer, Harry Vardon, “Don’t play too much golf ... two rounds a day is plenty!"
I was born in Illinois, spent my early childhood in Tennessee then moved to Oklahoma. I attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting before moving on to the University of Kansas where I attained a Master of Business Administration. After school I had a brief stint in banking in the Kansas City area before returning to Oklahoma.
Upon returning to Oklahoma I spent 11 years at KPMG serving large publicly traded clients across multiple industries with a heavy emphasis on the energy industry; including oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing, midstream operations, utilities and retail operations. My more recent experience includes spending the last 9 years in executive management roles at private equity backed high-growth exploration and production companies. My combination of public accounting experience and energy industry corporate finance and accounting roles provides me with a unique perspective on client service from both sides of the table.
At Embark, I provide leadership to our consultants and leverage my experience to ensure excellent client service. I also spend a significant portion of my time building and maintaining relationships in the Oklahoma marketplace as well as within the energy industry to support and grow the Embark’s practice throughout the region.
While I am not at work my time is dominated by family, including my wife, Kristi and four kids; Aubrei, Julia, KK and Luke. It feels like most of our “free” time is spent at a field or in a gym for one or more of the kid’s activities, which at times can be downright logistical chaos, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!! Our family loves to travel and experiencing other cultures. I do carve out time for College Football, Cycling and an occasional round of golf! Luke 12:48
I was born and raised in a small town just north of San Antonio, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. I traveled across the plains of west Texas to become a Red Raider at Texas Tech University -- Wreck ‘Em! -- where I graduated with my Master’s of Science in Accounting as well as my Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Outside of class, I enjoyed spending my time outdoors, whether that be hiking at Palo Duro Canyon, enjoying a jog around the beautiful campus, or spending time floating down the rec center’s lazy river.
After graduating, I made a goal to complete by the CPA exams and accepted a job with PricewaterhouseCoopers. At PwC, I joined the Financial Services sector where I performed assurance work on engagements in the asset management, investment banking, and technology industries. Not only did my time at PwC help enhance my technical capabilities and deepen my understanding of the financial reporting sector, I learned how crucial it is to love what you do, to excel at what you do, and to bring that “team-player” mentality into the work place. While I enjoyed my time in the auditing field, I knew it wasn’t a long-term plan for me.
I had began hearing about Embark – its amazing people and culture – and I wanted in. I came on board, initially into the Talent department, but since then, have transitioned into the internal accounting function.
With my wide range of experience, I wear several hats here at Embark. Some days I'm leveraging my decades of professional experience to advise the Embark team as they navigate the waters of success. Other days I'm continuing to build life long relationships in the Private Equity and Commercial Banking worlds.
Ultimately though I'm doing whatever is needed of my skill set and experience to put the wind in the sails of Embark!
If along the way I get to share a pint or two of a great craft beer or some wonderful Irish whiskey with our clients, bankers, or friends...I consider that a huge success!
If there’s anything you need or that I can do to help, connect with me on LinkedIn or shoot me an email.
I am an Eagle Scout and earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, as well as, an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in finance and international business. I am an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Young Presidents’ Organization where I serve on the Leadership Committee for the Dallas Christian Fellowship.
Currently, I serve several growth companies as a Director or Advisor. I also contribute to the Investment Committee of SBoTX Foundation and the Board of Directors for the Dallas Summer Musicals.
Before that, I served as an Operating Partner for HBC Investments and an industry advisor for several private equity fund sponsors, after almost a decade of executive leadership at Interstate Battery. While at Interstate, I was an officer on the senior executive team, the president of All Battery Centers Inc., Interstate’s multi-unit franchise system, and the president of PowerCare Service and Solutions Inc., Interstate’s independent industrial power management business.
My wife and I have been blessed with two wonderful children, whom we adopted. We enjoy giving back by mentoring other couples through their engagement season. Michael has a passion for the sanctity of life and hopes to serve on the board of a like-minded organization.
I grew up in West Texas and attended Abilene Christian University where I played football and pole vaulted on the track & field team. After graduation, I began my career in the oil and gas business in Midland, TX. Over the last 8 years, I have spent my time in various business development roles with both privately owned and publicly traded energy companies.
At Embark, I will be pursuing meaningful relationships with clients new and old. I’ll be utilizing my understanding of the oil and gas space while leveraging the expertise of our advisory firm to bring valuable solutions to our clients.
Above all else, I am a firm believer in Christ and I’m grateful for his grace. I'm immensely blessed by my wonderful wife, Kristyn, and son, Rhett. My favorite time is spent with family, otherwise, you can find me on a golf course or spending time in the outdoors.
I grew up in Pittsburgh where I earned a degree in finance and accounting from Duquesne University. After a few internships in PWC’s wealth management and tax services department as well as an audit internship with KPMG, I accepted a full-time offer in KPMG’s audit practice. While working at KPMG in Pittsburgh, I had the opportunity to travel down to Texas and quickly decided that I was ready to leave behind the cold, gray Pittsburgh winters for Austin’s blazing hot summers. I transferred down to KPMG’s Austin office in the summer of 2018 and stuck around for a little over a year before deciding to Marie Kondo my life and throw out anything that wasn’t sparking joy (i.e. my job as an auditor).
When I began to think about what I wanted my next career move to be, I considered the aspects of my job at KPMG that I enjoyed. The first thing that came to mind was the relationships that I had built with my clients and the rare instances in which I, as an auditor, had the opportunity to solve problems for my clients, as opposed to create them. When I was introduced to Embark and learned about the various ways in which the consultants work to make their clients’ lives easier, it was obvious that this was the perfect fit for me.
When I’m not engaged in the exciting work of unraveling complex accounting problems, I like to spend my time at the gym, in the sun, and on the water. I also love to travel the world, eat until I’m in pain, hangout on rooftops, and dance around at concerts.
While originally a Chicago area native, I eventually ended up relocating with my family to the DFW area. I attended and earned my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to joining Embark, I had a boomerang career with public accounting. I started my accounting career with Deloitte in the audit practice. From Deloitte, I took a position as a fund accountant for a Dallas-based hedge fund before finding my way back to public accounting at PwC in their assurance practice. Over the course of 11 years at PwC, I served not only numerous clients but also held internal & national firm leadership roles focused on audit transformation and quality.
As Embark’s National Quality Leader, I oversee our firm's technical accounting, complex transactions, and capital markets advisory services across all our offices for our consultants.
In my role, I provide relevant knowledge and perspective on a variety of technical accounting topics including business combinations & divestitures, reorganizations & carve-outs, IPOs & SPAC transactions, revenue recognition, asset impairments, leases, complex debt & equity financing, and stock-based compensation to name a few.
My client service experience includes public companies, closely-held companies, including those with PE investment or ownership, multinational companies, and family-owned businesses in multiple industries, including financial services, consumer products, manufacturing, hospitality, energy, retail, and technology.
In my free time, I’m often found doing any and all things fitness-related, working in the yard, traveling, or dabbling with newly found hobbies like photography. I also enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my two dogs – Buddy and Grace.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master in Professional Accounting. I also hold a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Houston.
Post-graduation, I joined the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) International Tax Services practice in Houston and worked on international restructurings and corporate inversions to lower the worldwide effective tax rates for global Fortune 500 clients in a variety of different industries. Following my time at PwC, I worked in financial advisory services at Charles River Associates, Huron Consulting and StoneTurn performing business & intellectual property valuations, corporate investigations and litigation advisory.
I transitioned to industry at Dell, Inc., working as the Business Controls Manager for the Dell Services business unit managing the internal control environment, as well as, corporate governance, internal audit and SOX compliance for the business unit. Then I moved on to a Pricing Manager role providing special pricing and financial analysis support to the sales leadership for the Large Enterprise business unit.
After Dell, I shifted to the start-up world and worked as a Finance Director for Consero Global, a Finance-as-a-Service start-up that provides outsourced finance and accounting services and software to other start-ups and small & medium businesses that don’t have the resources to have a fully staffed in-house finance department. Most recently, I served as the Finance Director/Corporate Controller at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, managing the full range of finance and accounting functions.
At Embark, I leverage my previous finance and accounting experiences to assist clients with whatever problem they may be facing.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Bonnie, our young daughter and our small shih tzu. We love to travel, snow ski, take advantage of the Austin outdoors, attend concerts and discover new restaurants.
I'm a native of the Austin area and grew up just north of town in the suburbs. When it was time for college, I made the short trip down the road to Texas A&M and became a first-generation Aggie. I spent some of my favorite years there and graduated with my BBA in Accounting and MS in Finance. After school, I started my career in the Dallas assurance practice with PwC, where my focus was on the oil & gas section in the upstream/midstream segments. I was happy with the opportunities and experiences in Dallas, but the capital city was calling me back home. After a few years, I transferred to the Austin office, where I worked primarily within the healthcare provider industry. My time at PwC was great and allowed me to develop valuable skills to better my clients, however, I wasn't satisfied with the value I was providing to clients through assurance services and began seeking out new opportunities. I learned about Embark and realized I was picking up what they were putting down. At Embark I'm able to leverage our talented people and my previous skills and experiences to solve problems and generate value for our clients.
Outside of work, you'll typically find my wife Peyton and I in the kitchen attempting to be Bobby Flay, planning our next vacation (how about that unlimited PTO), or kickin' it with our two mini Aussies, Lilly and Sammie. We're also huge fans of gallivanting around the city, taking in the great food, outdoors, and live music. If I'm not doing any of those things, I'll most likely be at the golf course, where I try to sneak a round in whenever I can.
I grew up outside of Dallas, in Highland Village, and spent most of my time in basketball practices, playing guitar in local bands, or running around the neighborhood with my friends. After a year at the University of Texas in Arlington, I scratched my itch to move to Austin and attended St. Edward’s University, where I was lucky enough to walk on to the basketball team. After a back surgery (and no signs of coming off the bench), I decided college basketball wasn’t for me and focused on school, internships, and exploring the great city of Austin.
After graduating with a BBA in Digital Media Management, I moved back to the DFW area to be with my family and my future wife, Kristi. There, I started my career in media sales, getting trained on how and why people buy. I then made my way to a VC-backed tech startup, where I started in a sales role, but ended up executing both marketing and client success duties as well.
Next, I had the opportunity to co-found a digital marketing agency with my oldest friend and the best man at my wedding. I led marketing strategies for our clients, and we helped numerous companies grow. In the process, I also learned a ton myself. It was an awesome/crazy/wild ride, and I’m very grateful to have been a part of building something from the ground up.
At my agency, we did a lot of work for Embark, and I always enjoyed working with their people. Over the years, I fell in love with their values and culture, so when the opportunity came to join the company, I couldn’t have been more excited.
At Embark, I’m focused on doing anything and everything I can do to enable our team to build more relationships with financial leaders that need our help. Outside of work, my wife and I spend most of our time keeping up with our kiddos, Nora & Ian. We also enjoy eating great food, addicting TV series, walks to the park, and when we don’t want to feel old, going to concerts.
I was born and raised in the island of Puerto Rico and my family moved to the Dallas suburbs when I was young. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and moved back to Dallas to start my career with KPMG. I spent 10 years in the audit practice, primarily working in the Asset Management industry.
I took my next step at Embark in a role that I find meaningful every day, using my accounting and auditing experience to help clients solve problems.
My husband and I have two little boys and an Aussie pup! The boys keep us on our toes but have shown us what love and life are truly about. We enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. When I’m not at my desk, you’ll likely find me exploring the outdoors with the boys, eating my way through Dallas, baking goodies, or playing tennis.
Born and raised just outside of Atlanta, GA, I migrated 70 miles northeast to attend the Nation’s Oldest Public University, The University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!). I earned both my Bachelors of Science and Masters of Accountancy degrees during my time in Athens.
I began my career in 2012 in Deloitte’s Assurance practice in Atlanta where I earned my CPA license and worked for over 7 years, serving primarily Real Estate and Financial Services clients. I learned a ton at Deloitte and had the privilege of working with some incredible clients and teammates - but ultimately realized staying in the “audit world” was not my long term desire for my career.
I left Deloitte and relocated to Denver, CO in early 2020 to challenge myself personally and professionally - and found Embark; where I was drawn to the culture, the challenging projects, and the solutions-oriented environment.
I spend most of my discretionary time and money traveling and experiencing new places. Skiing is my most recent addiction hobby as a new Colorado resident. I will almost always choose a random new bar/restaurant/coffee shop over one I’ve been to before. I also enjoy golfing, running, attending concerts, and having my heart repeatedly crushed by Atlanta sports franchises.
While I may not have been born in Texas, I got here as fast as I could. I completed my BBA in Accounting at Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!) before moving to Houston. Once there, I obtained my Master's in Accounting from the University of Houston and went to work for Deloitte in their audit practice.
During my time at Deloitte, I was really able to advance my technical accounting and problem-solving skills. While I enjoyed developing these skills, I quickly learned that my favorite aspect of the job was being able to help clients and team members achieve their goals.
In keeping with my desire to help others, I joined the amazing team at Texas Children's Hospital in their Finance Department. I loved being able to use my skills to contribute to their mission of helping women and children around the world. However, I missed the client interaction that came with public accounting, which led me to Embark!
When I'm not at work, I love cooking and learning more about nutrition and how different types of food can impact our long term health. That being said I also love pizza! In my continual pursuit of food, I love to travel and experience different types of cuisines and adventures. If I'm not traveling, I love being at home with my family and my rambunctious golden retriever Stella.
I am originally from Minnesota where I obtained an accounting degree from the College of Saint Benedict. After graduating, I began my career at Deloitte where I spent seven and a half years serving both public and private companies in the audit practice, including three years in Minneapolis, two and a half years in Denver and a two-year rotation in Amsterdam.
After returning from abroad, I was ready for a change and joined Embark. I am thrilled to be able to use the skills I have obtained during my time as an auditor to problem solve for clients.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and brewing beer with my husband, Cord, along with cheering on my Minnesota sports teams!
I was born and raised in Texas and attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Everything I do in work and life is built on treating others the way I would like to be treated.
Over the past decade, I have helped several hundred small to midsize businesses develop marketing and sales programs to attract new customers. My time as a marketing consultant and strategist provided me the opportunity to work in multiple industries including oil and gas, healthcare, technology, professional services, and multiple others.
I have built and leveraged strategic partnerships and industry networks to help clients achieve business development and marketing goals. My role at Embark allows me to focus on building relationships and devote 100% of my time to giving clients the very best experience possible.
I depend on God to guide my life, lead my family, and help me do my best for clients on a daily basis. God has blessed my life with a great family and unbelievable opportunities to help businesses of all sizes and locations experience growth.
While not working, I spend most of my time with my wife, Meagan, and three kids, Cody, Carly, and Campbell. Each kid is unique in their own way and all play competitive sports. As a family, we enjoy lazy movie nights. When time allows, I love playing golf and being outdoors with my family and friends.
I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon graduating from high school, I moved out West to attend Pepperdine University. I graduated from Pepperdine with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and an appreciation for all southern California and study abroad opportunities have to offer!
My career started with KPMG in Orange County, California, and ultimately moved back home to Tulsa in 2006, which was made easier with a transfer to the KPMG Tulsa office. During my almost 7 years at KPMG, I served both public and private clients in a variety of industries, including energy, technology, consumer goods, and healthcare. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities and relationships made through public accounting. Life after public accounting led to an executive management position at a private-equity backed midstream oil and gas company and financial reporting at a private-equity backed exploration and production company. During my work at those companies, I oversaw an asset divestiture, an asset acquisition, grassroots construction projects, and multiple management team transitions. In addition, I implemented processes and procedures from start-up as well as completed all the usual accounting monthly, quarterly, and annual to-dos.
At Embark, I utilize my combination of public accounting experience and start-up venture roles to provide clients with a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience. Clients benefit from my ability to think critically, problem-solve, maximize efficiencies, and productivity while also building solid relationships.
Time outside of the office is spent with my husband, Steve, and our children, Loretta and Van, as well as our extended family and friends. I enjoy exercise (spinning and yoga), traveling (during non-pandemic times), trying out new restaurants, and cooking. I am actively involved on the board of non-profit which supports a rare disease community and has assisted in the build-out of that organization over the last 10 years. Cheers!
I grew up in Dallas, TX but ventured to Baton Rouge to earn my BA in Accounting. GEAUX TIGERS. I made my way back to the lone star state where I earned my MS in Accounting at UNT.
After graduating I made my way to Denver to start my career with PwC in their Assurance practice. During my time at PwC, I gained valuable experience working on clients in a variety of industries including, oil and gas, agriculture, and retail. I quickly discovered my favorite part of the job with working with a team to solve problems and building relationships with clients, but audit just was not the fit me. This led me to Embark, where I am able to more of what I enjoy, building relationships, and collaborating with my team to solve problems.
When I am not at work, I love exploring all that Colorado has to offer. I enjoy spending my time outside hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, etc.
I live in Davis County with my wife, Brooke, and our 4 sons. We love the Utah outdoors and when we’re not attending a soccer, basketball, football, track, wrestling or baseball game we’re in the mountains, on the water or traveling (usually to Haiti).
I graduated from BYU with an accounting degree and then worked for Deloitte for a number of years before pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors over the next 17 years. During that time I took a 2 year hiatus to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Michigan. I’ve run startups, scaled small businesses, sold a company to private equity, and helped large enterprises thrive.
I’ve consulted operators and been an operator; working in sales, business development, product, marketing, finance and operations functions of professional services, commercial real estate, healthcare and technology companies.
I’m excited to work with such smart, energetic and caring Embarkers and eager to expand Embark’s services to Utah to help our local companies grow!
I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and earned my Bachelor's and Master's in Accounting from the University of Missouri. Shortly after graduating, I headed out to Denver, CO to start my career in the Denver audit practice at Deloitte. While at Deloitte, I gained valuable experience and exposure to a variety of clients and industries over the course of three years.
After leaving Deloitte in 2015, I joined the Corporate Accounting team at Molson Coors Brewing Company working primarily with consolidations and cash flows. I eventually moved into a role within the Molson Coors International business unit, which is where I spent the majority of my five years at the company, working through the accounting, FP&A, and strategic finance elements of their growing presence in the international beer business.
I have had the pleasure of working with some incredibly intelligent, hard-working, and fun individuals over the course of my career, and this exact caliber of people is what drew me to Embark. I am excited about helping our clients work through complex finance and accounting projects while building meaningful relationships.
Outside of work, I love to take advantage of the beautiful state of Colorado by hiking and biking in the summers and skiing and snowshoeing in the winters. I also enjoy traveling and discovering new places, and have gone on some pretty incredible adventures with my husband, Joe, and with family and friends.
I grew up in the great state of Colorado where I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder- Go Buffs- and obtained a B.S. in Psychology which I use every day in my partnership approach to referral sales. I've been in the financial consulting world for the past 6 years focused on a wide variety of industries including Manufacturing & Distribution, SaaS, Natural Food, Cannabis, Professional Services & NPOs. Before that, I worked for an IT training company largely funded by government reemployment initiatives to help with CompTIA, Cisco and Microsoft certification. I love to learn & experience variety in my day to day.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and trying to make our son laugh! I love the outdoors and try to hike, camp, fly fish and ski whenever possible. I enjoy baking, a good mystery novel and pilates. I'm always happy to chat about the fundraising & development work I do with MindSpark Learning and/or Reading Partners volunteer opportunities.

I am very fortunate to have spent my entire 40 year career and retired from Grant Thornton, being a partner since 1986 and having served as Global CEO, US CEO and numerous other roles including Chair of the Global Board, US head of audit, and managing partner of the Philadelphia office. I was lucky to have been surrounded by excellent management teams and wonderful partners and staff. I am now living in Evergreen Colorado (outside of Denver) and looking for other opportunities while I have been spending time with family and friends.
In 2017, I won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Accounting Bulletin and I was humbled by the recognition which really goes to the great people I have worked with at my former firm and throughout the profession over the years.
While CEO at Grant Thornton International, we grew from $3.6 Billion to over $5 Billion in revenue, from 30,000 to 50,000 people and from approximately 100 countries to over 140. While US CEO, Grant Thornton US grew from $350 million to $1.1 Billion in revenue and today is over $1.8 Billion with a great culture and reputation. For example, Grant Thornton US has been named as the top 100 companies by Working Mother for 13 consecutive years, including this year! I am incredibly proud of what the teams have achieved while I was there and know that there are even greater things to come.
I welcome any opportunities that may come my way, and I am truly enjoying getting to enjoy life in a different way.

I grew up in Tonganoxie, Kansas, a small town outside of Kansas City where I was raised to follow the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. I began my college career in 2013 at Kansas State University - Go Wildcats! At K-State, I studied Advertising and Marketing, while assuming diverse roles to grow professionally, one of which was an internship that brought me to Texas. I then graduated and moved back to Texas to work for the same company, full-time.
With an extensive background in Marketing, Account Management and Business Development, I had realized my strengths in relationship building, and assessing business needs. With that, I knew I would be most successful at a company that truly values serving others - this led me Embark.
Some of my favorite things to do outside of work include hiking and traveling to new cities across the U.S., running the trails at White Rock Lake, or getting a good work out at spin class - then carefully balancing those out with a lot of chips and queso at tex-mex restaurants.
I was born and raised in Claremore, OK. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance – Go Pokes! In 2010, I switched from banking to the Oil & Gas industry and never looked back. My background has primarily been on the Operational accounting side of private equity-backed E&P companies. I have been responsible for standing up accounting systems, understanding and improving accounting system processes, supervising accounting staff, and understanding general financial reporting processes. Financial audit assistance, compliance with COPAS/JOAs/Internal Controls and AP/AR/JIB processing are just a few of my areas of expertise. I am a people person and thoroughly enjoy the one on one client relationship that Embark provides. If there is a problem, I will help find a solution. Time spent outside of work is with my husband Chris and our son Henry. We love everything outdoors – running, hiking, swimming and football.
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and now reside in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas with my wife, Ashley, and our 3 boys. I attended the University of Georgia, (Go Dawgs!!), where I earned a BS in Biology and played two years of basketball as a walk-on for Georgia. After returning to Dallas I attended SMU and earned my MBA with a concentration in accounting.
My professional career spans 15 + years and includes time spent at EY, RSM and Riveron where I primarily worked on financial due diligence projects supporting domestic middle market PE growth buyouts and growth capital investments.
At Embark, my role is to connect with people and build long-lasting relationships with clients leveraging my many years spent working in the transaction space. Like most everyone here, it doesn't take long to see why Embark is so unique…it's the people!
Outside of work, my life evolves around the never ending activities of our boys and all their activities/sports. When I do get free time I enjoy competing in whatever activity I can find…basketball, soccer, golf, washers, etc. I'm a proud member of University Park United Methodist Church.
I am Pennsylvania born and Dallas Raised! I attended Oklahoma State (Go Pokes!) and pursued a major in Marketing and International Business. There is nothing quite like America’s Brightest Orange!
Post-graduation I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and started my career at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Donor Development and Logistics. After a few years I decided to move back to the great state of Texas and continue my career with Corporate Events and Development. I was drawn to Embark for their amazing culture and their drive to solve problems and build relationships.
I was hit with the travel bug at a young age and always like to be on the go traveling to new places—preferably overseas! When I am not traveling or working you can find me at a workout class, walking my two dogs Boone and Logie, enjoying a margarita on a patio or catching up on my favorite Bravo shows!
I grew up in San Marino, California and attended the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. At USC I spent my first two years running cross country and track before shifting my focus to Greek Life leadership, including serving as President of the Omicron Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Following graduation, I joined Deloitte, spending time in both the Los Angeles and Phoenix offices. I obtained my CPA license in the state of Arizona and an MBA from Arizona State University. I then spent 8 years in professional sports as the Controller for the Phoenix Suns and the Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting for the San Francisco 49ers. Upon returning to Phoenix, I worked in ascending management positions, including Corporate Controller for a large not-for-profit and CFO for a subsidiary of a large public company where I was promoted to CAO at the parent company level.
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to expand Embark’s presence into Arizona. Embarkers embody a unique combination of intelligence and energy that I know will benefit so many local companies.
While not working, I spend my time with my husband, Duane and 2 daughters, Eleanor and Harper. I can also be found on the Peloton leaderboard (@MaryPHX) with the hashtag #EmbarkWithUs!
I lived in Arizona the majority of my life and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accountancy from Arizona State University. After graduation, I pursued a career with PwC in their assurance practice, spending time primarily in the Phoenix office and several months in Tel-Aviv-Israel. While at PwC, I gained valuable experience and exposure to both public and private clients in various industries including technology, utilities, and pharmaceutical. After a little over two years with PwC, I moved to Omaha Nebraska where I joined the internal audit team at TD Ameritrade. In internal audit, I led and executed operational and SOX audits as well as pursued a data analytics role with a focus on automation and process improvement.
I am driven to learn and passionate about helping others. I strive for excellence, always looking to enhance efficiency by problem solving, collaborating and team building. As a consultant at Embark, I will be able to pursue my passion and bring positive impact and added value to our clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids. I love the outdoors, traveling, exercising and just relaxing while binge-watching Netflix shows.
Raised in the DFW area, I attended Baylor University, where I graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in accountancy. After a few internships in both industry and public accounting, I began my career in KPMG's Denver audit practice, where I worked primarily in the financial services industries. In May 2019, I transferred to KPMG's Austin office, where I operated as a senior associate in a myriad of industries, of which brought about the experience with SEC reporting and IPO prep. Over the course of my career, I have been able to gain experience in industries such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, real estate, financial services, and several more.
My wife, Meg, and I have now lived in Austin for almost two years, and were both overjoyed at the opportunity to join the Embark family. At Embark, I am able to expand my resources in order to better serve my clients and have much enjoyed driving value from a consulting perspective.
When I am not reading up on the latest and greatest in the accounting world, I enjoy spending my time trying new restaurants in the ever-changing Austin food community and having long conversations by campfires.
I was born and raised in Plano, TX! After high school I made my way to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State University(GO POKES!). I graduated with a major in Finance and a minor in Accounting.
After graduation I came back to Dallas to start my career at an upstream oil & gas company, Rover Petroleum LLC, as a Property Accountant. Within 4 years, I gained an immense amount of knowledge in all things JIB and revenue. After working for Rover, I made the move to Embark. Embark offers the opportunity to utilize past experience in the oil & gas industry to help clients succeed, while also creating client relationships. Embarks amazing culture surrounds people with support, motivation, and brings excitement to solving problems and building relationships.
Outside of work, I love to travel and explore new places, surround myself with friends and family, meet new people, watch sports, and binge watch Netflix!
My two favorite activities are skiing in the mountains with a big group of friends and laying on the beach with my fiancé(husband as of 5.29.21)!
Born and raised in Waukee, Iowa. I attended the University of Northern Iowa for college, where I obtained my Masters of Accounting and CPA license. After school, I started my career at Ernst and Young working in their assurance practice. My primary focus was on investment portfolios of financial service companies with an emphasis on the financial reporting and SOX control testing environment of the audits. I was also able to sprinkle in financial advisory project work that consisted of implementing controls for financial reporting and auditing a billion dollar client merger and acquisition transaction. Over my last year at EY, I had transitioned into the role of digital advisor, helping EY teams across the Midwest region improve their audits with new digital tools the firm implemented and ensuring they met auditing standards.
During quarantine, my girlfriend and I decided to make the move down to Austin! I was able to work remotely which made the transition pretty easy. I enjoyed my time working for a Big 4 company and gaining valuable accounting and business knowledge, but I knew deep down I wanted to seek out something where I had the opportunity to help companies with the knowledge I had gained. I have a passion to help others. Embark offers a vast majority of opportunities to help companies and that lined up exactly with what my appetite was craving. I have heard nothing but great things about Embark and am looking to make an impact right away!
Outside of work, I like to stay active and spend my free time outdoors by playing a round of golf, going hiking, or spending time near the water. Additionally, I grew up playing basketball and baseball so I do like to stay active as a fan and cheer on some of my favorite teams such as the Packers, Cubs, and Spurs and our home state college teams (Cyclones and Hawkeyes). I also spend 3 to 4 days a week working out at Orangetheory Fitness (my girlfriend, Kelsi, is a studio manager). Lastly, we recently added Maci, a Cavapoo puppy, to our little family. She is 4 months old and keeps us busy!

As the Managing Director of Market Development, Miles is focused on Client satisfaction and building relationships with strategic Evangelists for Embark. He works extensively with capital providers such as Banks and Private Equity Firms and their Clients/Portfolio Companies.
Miles also serves on the Advisory Board for a Minerals and Royalties Company based out of Dallas, TX.
When not working, Miles enjoys spending time with his family. He is an outdoors enthusiast and loves to play and watch sports.
Couldn’t be more excited and blessed to be here! I come from the fashion world primarily marketing and selling high-end menswear for over a decade. With that said, financial advisory is something that’s very new to me but marketing something I believe in is not. So when we say here we “solve problems & build relationships” that’s exactly what I’ve been doing my whole career in the fashion world from personal relationships to business relationships with my factories domestically and overseas. The Embarkers here truly walk the walk not just talk the talk.
Outside of Embark, I’m hanging with my two daughters and wifey playing some intense UNO, Candy Land, or other fun family games…playing barbies, painting nails, riding bikes, etc. As long as we’re all together TeamSmith4 (as we call ourselves) are happy! So thankful for my team and beyond grateful to be a dad! #GirlsDad
I was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland and lived there my whole life until going to college at Philadelphia University for my Bachelor’s in Accounting. Upon graduating, I went to the University of Texas at Austin for my Master’s in Professional Accounting. I then moved back to Philadelphia to start with EY in their assurance practice. I lived in Philadelphia for a year and a half until moving to Denver in March 2019.
I worked on a number of audits of private companies in various industries, but soon specialized in the healthcare industry, primarily focusing on the estimation of patient AR and revenue allowances. I really enjoy working with data analytics and new software and helping others implement new strategies. I love working with clients and team members to solve problems and to make a difference in clients’ lives, which is what led me to Embark.
Outside of work, I love roasting and brewing coffee, photography, and exploring new restaurants!
I was raised in Mesa, Arizona. I attended Brigham Young University for one semester before departing for Mexico to serve as a missionary for 2 years. Upon returning to school, I enrolled in business courses, studied abroad in Europe, met my wife, and graduated with my Bachelors and Masters in Accounting.
After graduation, I joined PwC’s Financial Markets practice in New York City, where I consulted clients and served as a subject matter expert to audit teams on accounting issues related to financial instruments. My 2 years in New York allowed me to work with a variety of clients, and I enjoyed the challenge of staying on the cutting edge of technical accounting subjects; however, the mountains and family eventually called us back west to Utah. I moved to an industry role for a year before discovering Embark! I was attracted to the opportunity to join a culture-obsessed, rapidly growing company, where I could not only serve cool clients but also play a part in the development of a brand-new office.
Most of my free-time is spent chasing around our 2 young kids, but when we have the chance we love to hike, camp, rock climb, mountain bike, or visit Utah’s amazing National Parks. I also love reading, running, trying out new recipes, playing golf or pick-up sports, serving in my church, and waking up early to support Liverpool FC (YNWA).
I was born and raised in Salt Lake, Utah, and graduated from Brigham Young University with my Bachelor’s in Accounting, and Weber State University with my Master’s.
I started my career as part of the audit service line with EY in the Bay Area out of the Redwood Shores office for my staff years, primarily serving large technology companies. As I was about to begin my third year at EY, I transferred back home to the Salt Lake office, where I spent the next six years working with various clients in several industries in the Salt Lake area. During my time at EY I gained experience through working with both public and private companies, being a key resource in the adoption of recent accounting standards (ASC 606, 842, and 326), developing project management skills through the supervision of several audit engagements taking place concurrently, leading internal CPE trainings for various levels on accounting and auditing topics, working through the IPO and comfort letter process for SEC filings, among other experiences.
What I like most about working at Embark, is the ability it has given me to work directly with clients, to help them solve their most pressing issues, while also trying to help solve problems that they may not know about. I have been able to utilize my past experiences to help remove any current or potential issues our clients are facing, every day is different, and everyone has different problems, I enjoy the consistent change and variety that my role brings, in addition to working in a team environment and being able to pull on everyone’s strength to accomplish our overall goals.
Currently, I have two kids, (a 4-year old girl and a 1-year old boy) that keep me and my wife very busy. We enjoy doing things as a family like board games, walks / hiking, movies (both at the theater and at home). I am an avid sports fan, specifically football and basketball, rooting for the BYU Cougars, San Francisco 49ers, and the Utah Jazz.
I was born and raised in Canada, the greatest country on earth. I graduated with a Masters degree in Accounting (MAcc) from the Marriott School of Business (Brigham Young University) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University).
Post-graduate, I joined the practice Financial Instruments, Structured Products, and Real Estate at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in New York City. I modeled and valued complex securities and helped Fortune 100 clients meet the new regulatory requirements. Looking to expand my skill sets, I subsequently joined the Financial Due Diligence (FDD) practice at PwC. I gained broad industry experience with a primary focus on technology companies and additional consulting experience with media, biotech, manufacturing, finance, and customer/professional services firms. Additionally, I helped upskill the FDD practice in advanced modeling, excel VBA/Macros, Alteryx and Tableau. After 3 years with FDD, I transitioned into the Data Analytics practice based in Chicago. Within the Data Analytics group, we used advanced tools and analytics techniques to answer specific and challenging business questions for our clients. Additionally, while in Chicago, I pursued an MBA focusing on entrepreneurship and finance and launched a 501(c)(3) approved charity called Mana Mindset (mana is a mauri word for respect, honor, etc.), where we focus on economically stable programs that serve underprivileged individuals (please reach out if you have any good ideas related to that mission).
Outside of work, I love anything outdoors (hiking/backpacking, boarding, survival camping, building/structural engineering projects, etc.) and nerd stuff (mostly coding). I try to drag my wife (Jaklyn) and kids (Theodore and William) with me as much as possible on any outdoor adventure. Recently, I accepted an offer to teach a Data Analytics course in accounting at Northwestern University.
I was born and raised in Silicon Valley and graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Accounting. I chose to start my career in the audit practice of KPMG San Francisco.
After three and a half years of both public and private experience in a wide variety of sectors, I joined the FP&A team at Core-Mark International, a Fortune 250 company and a leader in convenience store distribution. Here I specialized in financial modeling and customer profitability, helping to analyze over $2.8B in contracts.
Thanks to my manager and senior leadership, Core-Mark made me Portland’s Division Controller, where the President recruited a new leadership team to transform the division as a team. Here I oversaw everything from AP & AR to Inventory and implemented automation where we could. But my personal life called for a move to Denver, where I landed at the premier developer of Cherry Creek, BMC Investments / BLDG Management. Here I broadened my experience including tax review, development accounting and treasury management (even closing 2 PPP loans).
I owe my success to those who believed in me, challenged me and encouraged me in times of adversity. It is this culture of trust, intelligence and wit that drew me to Embark. I am so grateful to be among colleagues who are genuine and innovative.
In my downtime I enjoy all four seasons in the Rocky Mountains, reading, investing, and most of all, time with family, friends and our puppy Noodles.
I grew up just outside of Fort Worth, Texas; from there, I spent four years in the US Marine Corps before coming home and getting my Bachelors and Masters at TCU. I am a husband to an amazing wife, a father to a beautiful little girl, a genuine data nerd, and utterly obsessed with golf.
I am originally from Austin, TX which is where I grew up & completed all my schooling. I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Houston, TX to join PricewaterhouseCoopers and then Ernst & Young in their Assurance practices. I have worked with both public and private clients ranging from Fortune 100 to Start-up’s. Some of the industries I served while in public accounting included Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pipelines, Retail, Technology, & Manufacturing. Following public accounting, I worked with a few more Fortune 500 organizations within the Oilfield Services and Manufacturing spaces.
With my diverse background, working with numerous companies across a wide spectrum of different industries has allowed me to see the bigger picture of business. At Embark, I can provide a variety of expertise when it comes to process/control improvements, promoting creative/dynamic environments, and best practices across all environments.
Away from work, I love to travel and experience cultures, cuisines, countries (traveled to over 25), US States (visited all 50 many times), cities, & meet people of all backgrounds. I enjoy spending much of my time with my lovely wife and two-year-old, who always keeps us busy and on our toes. Lastly and somewhat important, I am a huge NCAA fan, particularly College Football and March Madness (Hook’Em Horns!).
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and I attended Loyola Marymount University as an accounting and finance double major. Upon graduation, I began my career at PwC in the audit practice under the financial services practice.
During my time there I worked in a variety of financial services clients, from banks to broker-dealers to asset management. After a few years of internal control testing and financial statement audits, I was ready to try something new. Upon leaving PwC I decided to go the private industry route and started a role in treasury and accounting at Ares Management. In my time there I learned financial reporting, the treasury function, month-end accounting cycles and quarter and annual filings for SEC reporting requirements. It was a little over a year there when I realized that I didn’t want to live in Los Angeles my entire life and I decided to look elsewhere. That’s how I ended up in Austin, Texas. In 2018 I moved to Austin and I found Embark, but I had an offer with another firm and within a few weeks I moved temporarily to NYC and began my role as a senior fund accountant at Hudson River Trading in financial services once again. However, it was more or less of the same type of work but in a private company setting left me craving for more of a challenge. When the opportunity at Embark came along again it made me realize what I missed the most of my career at PwC, which was helping clients solve their problems, working with intelligent people, and building lasting relationships with colleagues and clients. As a result, I am looking forward to the opportunity to build strong client relationships and achieve their goals for the foreseeable future.
When I’m away from a screen, I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle, whether that’s through boxing, running, basketball (Go Lakers!), biking, hiking or yoga. A few other non-active interests of mine are cooking, gardening, reading, photography and traveling.
I was born and raised in Waco, TX where I also attended Baylor University. I graduated with my Master’s of Accountancy in 2016 and moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a Financial Management consultant with Grant Thornton in their Public Sector. I spent two and a half years serving government clients before I decided I was ready for a change. I immensely enjoyed working with clients and solving problems, but I got the yearning for travel and decided to spend a year abroad teaching English.
I spent 2019 in South Korea as an elementary school English teacher where I learned the language and culture and ate a lot of amazing food. After I returned to Texas, I spent a year working for a mid-size oil and gas company. I missed my time working as a consultant and working in a fast-paced environment. When I learned about Embark and the type of people that work here, I knew it would be a perfect fit. Now I am able to use my diverse experience to help clients and navigate complex challenges while growing my technical accounting knowledge.
I spend most of my time outside of work at dog parks or on trails with my chocolate lab, Duke. I also enjoy traveling, trying out new restaurants, and meeting new people at my church or through social gatherings.
I'm a native of Bryan, TX and attended Texas A&M University, where I earned a BBA in Accounting and an MS in Management Information Systems. I've worked at places from a small town tax firm to Big 4 to Halliburton (plus a few places in between). I joined Embark because I have a knack for solving problems and a passion for providing great service.
My work experiences include tax, financial reporting systems, metadata management, general ledger accounting, lease accounting, project management, process improvement/development, among others! I've done a little of everything it seems.
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, Jeeping, mountain biking, grilling, hanging with the fam (and Corgi named Biscuit), writing, and spending time outside (especially the beach). I also think of myself as a handyman, but I probably cause more messes than I fix. I'm also big into the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and anything related to A&M. Gig 'em, Ags!
I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Arkansas.
In 2013 I moved to Dallas and began my career in Grant Thornton’s Dallas Audit practice, where I spent 4 years. During my time at GT, I served a variety of clients and industries with a primary focus on Energy clients. After my time there, I moved to Industry with McKesson Corporation in their Transition Services group focusing on the accounting and financial reporting aspects of a newly created Joint Venture and Divestiture. After a year with the Transition Services team, I joined the Corporate Accounting team at Mckesson, where I led a team responsible for all aspects of the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting processes.
After a few years in Industry, I wanted to get back into client services and decided to join Embark in early 2021. I was immediately drawn to the culture, the variety of projects, and the opportunity to grow myself professionally while adding value and helping drive business solutions to a wide range of clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching sports (big Razorback fan), golf, basketball, cooking, and traveling,
I was born in Denver and grew up in the beautiful Colorado mountains. I achieved a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Colorado, and my Master of Accountancy from the University of Denver. After graduating with my Master’s, I began my accounting career with KPMG in their risk advisory division.
After KPMG, I spent a couple of years learning the day-to-day accounting. After a couple of years of transactional accounting, I was ready for a change and am so excited to have found Embark. I am thrilled to use my knowledge from the big 4 and cleaning up small company processes to problem solve for clients.
Outside of the office, I am still an avid mountain adventurer. I spend my time mountain biking, skiing, golfing, and generally getting outside. When not outside, I am a fan of my Denver sports teams, especially the Broncos!
I was born in Austin, Texas and earned my BBA in Accounting and Finance from Texas Christian University. After graduation, I spent 4 years with EY’s valuation and business modeling practice in Houston. I have performed valuations of publicly traded and privately held businesses and assets for financial reporting, tax, and M&A purposes for more than 50 clients, primarily in the energy industry. I have led valuation projects associated with post-deal purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment, capital impairment, bankruptcy/reorganization, and stock-based compensation, among others. I also spent some time in industry, performing pre-deal diligence and valuations for a private equity veterinary platform.
While I’m not at work, I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, listening to live music, and exploring Austin’s greenbelt with my friends.
I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I attended Boston College, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Honors Program of the Carroll School of Management. After graduating from BC and obtaining my CPA, I started my career in public accounting within Deloitte's audit practice in their Boston office.
While at Deloitte, I led audits for both public and private companies in a variety of industries including restaurant & hospitality, consumer products, healthcare, and investment management. After three years in Boston, I was looking to escape the cold and snow of the Northeast, so I transferred to Dallas in August 2017 to serve on a major healthcare engagement. Relocating to Dallas has been the best decision of my life and it truly has become home! During my five years at Deloitte, I was able to develop vital technical accounting skills as well as collaborate with team members and client personnel to resolve complex accounting issues/audit findings. My experience in public accounting taught me about the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships, and how crucial it is in delivering client service.
What attracted me to embark was the opportunity to work with other highly talented and motivated individuals. I enjoy new and challenging situations, and as a member of the Embark team, I am able to leverage my skills, experiences, and problem-solving abilities to add value to our clients.
Outside of work, I am a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Mavericks. I also enjoy spending time with friends, staying active, and am an avid golfer.
I was born in Michigan, bounced around the US a bit, and landed in Dallas, Texas for most of middle and high school. I loved the city, so I attended The University of Texas at Dallas for my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting. During my time in college, I was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and was an Accounting Area Teaching Assistant for Intermediate Financial Accounting II.
Upon graduating, I began my career with EY Dallas, serving public clients in the life sciences and media & entertainment industries. After my first year, I transferred to EY Washington D.C. and worked on several clients in the professional services, technology and aerospace & defense industries. After a few years, I had the opportunity to complete a two-year rotation with EY Amsterdam in which I worked on Global 360 clients in the retail/wholesale and transportation industries. I then transferred back to the US and joined EY Austin where I worked primarily on clients in the technology industry. During my time at EY, I gained experience in a variety of industries, as well as unique audit situations (multi-year restatements, remediation of several material weaknesses, filing of Ch.11 bankruptcy, carve-out audits and auditing the global transfer pricing model of a transportation company). Further, I had the opportunity to work with teams and clients from all different cultures and backgrounds. I enjoyed the variety of work in public accounting, which is what drew me to Embark.
Outside of work, I love to pour my creativity into custom cakes, spend time with family, and travel whenever I can! I also enjoy volunteering at my church and having fellowship with others.
I grew up in Caddo Mills, TX and moved to Richardson to attend The University of Texas at Dallas where I earned my degree in Business Administration. After graduation, I stayed at UTD to go on staff with a college ministry there. I absolutely loved spending time with the next generation of students helping develop them into well-rounded leaders! I realized, though, my strengths lie more in working behind the scenes than in rallying the people.
I am passionate about problem-solving, thinking about all the details, and helping processes run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Here at Embark, I get to do just that to serve our team as well as our clients!
Outside of work I love spending time with my horse LC, exploring the town with friends, or cozied up reading a good book!
Originally from Chicago, my family moved to Flower Mound when I was a kid and I’ve been in DFW ever since. My passion for design started in college at Texas Tech designing team logos, kit sponsors, and jerseys to upload into Fifa 12. I started learning the Adobe applications and cranked out as many teams as I could (my game crashed). I loved the process of learning about different cities and developing identities that would feel genuine to the areas they represented. Even things like naming the stadium after an important historical figure from the region or a colloquial name for a geographical element in the area took research and time to put together. In hindsight, I realize it was branding before really I knew what branding was. Ultimately that passion came full circle and I had the opportunity to design an official jersey playable in Fifa 21.
Fortunately, I was able to turn doing what I love into a career and develop brands for a living. After stints ranging from B2B corporate teams to freelancing to branding companies at an esports creative agency, I’ve landed at Embark as our first in-house designer dedicated to nurturing a truly unique and exciting brand.
When I’m not at Embark designing, I’m at home designing, watching soccer, hanging out with my cat, Oliver, or spending time with friends and family.
Lastly, I’m—and I can’t overstate this—a massive Liverpool FC supporter. The best day I’ve ever had was going to an absolutely frigid Anfield to watch Virgil Van Dijk knock home two headers in a 2-1 win against Brighton in November 2019. I got a meat pie and a beer then celebrated Newcastle’s equalizer against City with the fans in the concourse like I’d lived there my whole life. Couldn’t feel my fingers. 11/10 would go again.
I grew up in Marble Fall, Texas, a small town just west of Austin. I then attended Texas A&M University where I graduated with my BBA and master’s in accounting.
After college, I moved to Austin where I started my career in EY’s audit and assurance practice. During my time at EY I served multiple clients in a variety of different industries, including technology, manufacturing, energy commodities trading and real estate. Through my time at EY I was able to gain and improve upon valuable skills that are essential to my career. After nearly three years with EY, I decided it was time to begin a new chapter in my career, and I was fortunate enough to find that opportunity with Embark!
Outside of work I enjoy going to the lake, live music, spending time with friends and watching sports – Go Cowboys!
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas; however, I've spent two separate 2-year stints in Europe (London and Dublin). I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I earned my Bachelor's and Master's in Accounting.
I have 12+ years of combined experience in public accounting and transaction-related services including performing and leading financial due diligence for M&A transactions. My experience includes time spent at PwC (Dallas and Dublin, Ireland) and Riveron, where I served a variety of industries supporting both private and publicly held companies.
At Embark, I lead our Transaction Services practice, working with business owners, investment banks, and private equity groups to help facilitate and work through the transaction lifecycle.
When I'm not at work, I spend most of my time with my wife, Lauren, and our three kids (1 boy and 2 girls). When I do get free time, you will find me cheering on the Texas Longhorns, golfing, or finding the next Dave Matthews Band concert to attend. I'm also a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, the Lake Highlands Exchange Club, and a Board member of LHUMC's Christian Childhood Development Center.
Born and raised in Houston, I am proud to be leading this market for Embark. A banker by background, a lawyer by education, and a relationship builder by nature, I enjoy helping clients find the right solution for any situation or circumstance.
Professionally, I have spent the last 14 years as a corporate banker, covering upstream O&G companies at several financial institutions, the last seven years at JP Morgan. Through that experience I have a clear perspective into our clients’ needs and challenges.
Before beginning my career, I attended The University of Texas at Austin where I earned a bachelor’s in Finance. Afterward, I moved to Washington, DC to study at Georgetown Law. Other than those years, I have spent my entire life in Houston and I am so excited to help Embark grow and expand its reach here in HTX.
On the personal side, I have an amazing wife and two outstanding children. When not shuffling from soccer to basketball to baseball games on weekends, I try to hone my skills (or lack thereof) on the links whenever and wherever possible!
I grew up in El Paso, TX - home of the UTEP Miners - and moved to San Antonio, TX to get my undergrad and Masters degrees at Trinity University where I also played on the Men's Tennis team. From there, I moved to Dallas, TX, where I currently reside, to start my career with Deloitte.
I began in Audit but quickly discovered it wasn't for me and went over to Deloitte Consulting to join their Strategy and Operations team focusing on Digital Finance Transformation. There, I fell in love with robotics, AI, and automation and took that passion to Embark (for the first time) where I focused on Business Development and building relationships. After a while, I went over to one of our partners, Workiva, to lead a sales team but couldn't stay away for long and now I'm back at Embark!
I'm passionate about our Growth and our People so you'll find me building relationships and serving others wherever/whenever I can. When not at work, you can find me on the tennis courts (or Padel courts - YouTube it!), outside with my big silver lab, Zeus, eating all the delicious good, or hanging with friends. Feel free to reach out for anything!
I was born and raised in the Ogden, UT area. I'm a proud graduate of Roy High School and went on to graduate from Utah State University with my Bachelor's and Master's of Accounting. Go Aggies!
I started my career with Eide Bailly in their audit practice and spent 5 years working in the Ogden and Salt Lake City areas. During my time at Eide Bailly I worked in a number of industries including healthcare, commercial goods, non-profit, and automotive dealerships. As an audit associate and audit senior I developed problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and time management skills that have been valuable to me throughout my career.
Although I really enjoyed my time in public accounting, I always wanted to do more to add value to my clients. Once I heard about Embark I knew that this was the position I had been looking for. I love that I get to work with great clients on complex financial and accounting issues.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and better half, Jessie, and our two young boys. We love to spend time camping, visiting family in Florida, and finding new adventures every weekend.
I was born and raised in East Texas (Lufkin) surrounded by the Piney Woods forest. I ventured to Austin to attend the University of Texas (Hook 'Em!) where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting and got to live in Madrid, Spain for a semester.
After graduation, I joined the EY Assurance practice in Dallas, Texas, where I was introduced to a fast-paced learning environment, and I worked primarily on a large public client in the manufacturing industry. After about two years, I transferred within the EY Assurance practice to Denver, Colorado, where I gained exposure to other industries in the public sector including technology and healthcare. While at EY, I expanded my technical accounting knowledge, and I learned so much about different client processes, team environments, project management, and client relationships. Now, I am super excited to transfer these skills into the consulting world to help solve problems with Embark!
Outside of work, I love to enjoy the outdoors whether that is hiking during the summer or hitting the slopes to ski during the snowy months. I have learned that I have a passion for trying new things (food, traveling, a new workout class), so I try to expand my horizons whenever I get the opportunity. Last, but not least, I love a good ice-cream outing or a cup of coffee coupled with a good book!
I was born and raised in the Houston ‘burbs. After high school, I continued my family legacy and attended Texas A&M University (whoop!). I graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting through the PPA Program in Mays Business School.
After graduating, I moved to back to Houston and began my accounting career at PwC in the Private Client Services Group (PCS). Being in PCS allowed me to experience a broad variety of industries, such as oil and gas, not-for-profit, oilfield services, professional services, and healthcare. Working with these smaller companies enabled me to experience firsthand the inner workings of the company, and to form meaningful relationships with my clients. In my 3 years at PwC, I strengthened my technical and analytical skills, as well as gained valuable insights of the trials and tribulations that my clients faced in the day-to-day business. This led me to the desire to transition from auditing to the more creative and collaborative world of consulting at Embark!
At Embark, I am excited to leverage my unique experience and collaborate with the best and the brightest individuals to provide exceptional service to our clients. There is no problem too big or too small for us to solve.
Outside of work, I love to travel the world (18 countries and counting!), cook delicious food, pursue fitness, and read. On any given weekend, you will find me running on the Houston trails, and exploring the patio scene with my friends and my rambunctious pup, Ollie.
I am originally from San Salvador, El Salvador (a tiny country in Central America). I took a chance after high school and moved to North Carolina to attend UNC-Chapel Hill where I majored in Sociology. Soon after graduating I did a bit of a 180 and moved to Austin to get a Master of Accounting at UT.
I spent the early years of my career at Deloitte Dallas in the Audit practice serving large public clients. I then pivoted to Deloitte’s Audit Project Management group where I supported teams in delivering well-managed and cost-effective audits. This is where I developed an enthusiasm for all things project management – particularly identifying project management pain points and building customized solutions. I now get to do that at Embark!
Outside of work I spend most of my time with my husband Fernando and my two kids, Diego and Camila. During our time off we often fly back to El Salvador to hang out at the beach and spend time with our families.
After growing up in the Midwest and in Houston, I decided moving to Dallas after graduating from ACU was the next adventure. I left ACU like most big 4 new hires, Masters and Undergrad in Accounting ready to take the CPA. I started my career with PwC and quickly realized the traditional audit path was not for me. That quickly led to becoming a Digital Accelerator at PwC where I focused on creating automated audit solutions for our engagement teams. My time at PwC gave me time to learn and use all sorts of fun and exciting tools. My time with PwC prepared me for my role with Embark.
At embark I work with our clients to help reimagine what is possible when it comes to accounting. I love working with people to help reshape their day-to-day work through the adoption of new skills and experiences. Sharing my knowledge with others is my favorite type of work and doing it every day is amazing.
Outside of work, I have far too many hobbies from woodworking and chicken raising to writing a blog about having too many hobbies. We have 2 doodles, Tank and Hazel, 4 chickens, and a few bats that keep us busy.
I grew up just outside of Detroit before attending Michigan State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting. Afterwards, I ventured to Chicago where I started my career with EY in their assurance practice. During this time, I worked on various clients within healthcare, tech, and logistics as well as having some IPO and transaction work sprinkled in.
After almost four years I decided to trade in the cold winters for sunshine and relocated to the wonderful city of Austin! As part of this transition, I decided it was time for a new challenge and started looking at opportunities outside of EY. A few months later I came across Embark and was sold immediately. The problem-solving and strategic mindset of the Company was a huge draw, however, the incredible individuals and culture that Embark fosters was what sealed the deal.
Most of my time outside of work is filled with spoiling my Pitbull rescue, Ashland. On the weekends you can find me spending as much time outside as possible, whether it is paddleboarding on ladybird lake, grabbing drinks with friends at one of the many Austin patios, or continuously practicing my golf game (which needs it!). Beyond that, I am a cooking, hockey (go Red Wings!), soccer, and film fanatic, but enjoy experiencing all kinds of new activities and adventures!
I was born and raised in Columbus, IN, and after high school, I moved to Indianapolis, IN to attend Indiana University Indianapolis where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Business degree – majoring in accounting, finance, and international studies and minoring in economics and psychology.
After graduation, I started my career at EY in the assurance practice and spent the next three years serving a Fortune 500 industrial products, manufacturing clients as well as private companies. During this time, I started teaching basic accounting skills as a professor at my alma mater. After leaving EY, I joined PwC’s Public Sector advisory practice (now Guidehouse) and supported the standardization and optimization of the U.S. Army’s financial management processes and overall program management. During this time, I became certified as Project Management Professional and started my Master of Science in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Data Analytics (completed two years later). I then left and pursued a startup venture and was Head of Product and part of the founding team during my time, and I managed the development from vaporware to a functional mobile app. As life goes, I left the startup and joined Indiana University Health as a Program Manager in the Financial Services group, and I focused primarily on process improvements of our accounting and finance functions as well as assisted in the implementation of an ERP.
After being in industry and assessing what my next move would be now that I had relocated to Denver, I knew I was passionate about helping others and continuous learning/improvement. I also thrive on being in challenging situations where I can help solve complex problems, which drew me to joining Embark and leveraging my breadth of experience to help clients solve problems.
Outside of work, I love new experiences – whether that is traveling, new foods/drinks, live music, or an adventure of any kind (IRL or in a book). Colorado has been a perfect fit as I learn all the things that Denver and Colorado have to offer. Although, a perfect evening could simply be relaxing on the couch with my significant other and our two doggos.
Born and raised in Mississippi, I grew up a big Ole Miss fan (HOTTY TODDY!) and made the easy decision to go to school there. During my time at Ole Miss, I earned both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Accountancy degrees and obtained my CPA. After interning in KPMG’s audit practice in Memphis, TN, I accepted a full-time offer with the firm and started my career in the summer of 2018. After visiting Austin multiple times and falling in love with the city, I transferred to the Austin office in 2019 where I would eventually transition out of audit. During my three years at KPMG, I worked mainly in the public sector on oil and gas and financial services clients. I also have experience with alternative investments, not-for-profit, and retail clients in the private sector.
I learned a tremendous amount during my time at KPMG and had the privilege of working with some amazing people and clients. However, I knew early on that auditing was not a long-term career goal for me. When I was first introduced to Embark, I knew that this was the type of firm I wanted to work for one that helps clients solve their problems, rather than create them. Here, I can leverage all my skills and experiences to identify various ways to make my clients’ lives easier.
Outside of work, I prefer to spend my time outdoors, whether it’s taking my paddleboard out on Lady Bird Lake, finding live music around town, or hiking the Greenbelt with my golden retriever. I also love traveling (especially back to Oxford to watch the Rebs play) and spending time with friends and family.
I grew up for the most part in Houston, Texas taking a four-year detour to Kingsport, Tennessee. I spent my college years in Searcy, Arkansas while attending and graduating from Harding University with a degree in Accounting.
After graduation, I started my career at EY in the Audit practice in Houston specializing in the oil and gas industry. From there I spent time in the Financial Reporting and Accounting groups at both Halcon Resources and Fortis Minerals. During my time at Fortis, I transitioned into the world of data analytics and dashboarding taking on the role of Business Intelligence Manager. Here at Embark, I am excited to use both my Business Intelligence and Accounting experience to bring value to our clients.
More than anything, I love spending time with my wife and two boys. We’re usually hanging out at the baseball fields or playing outside together. When I can get away, I love playing golf or binge-watching a great show.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in the DFW area, specifically in the suburb of Colleyville. I found my way to Oklahoma State University for my college education (Go Pokes!) and graduated with my bachelor's and master's degrees in Accounting. Although I absolutely love Stillwater, after graduation I made my way back to the great state of Texas to start my career at EY in the assurance practice. I primarily worked in the media and asset management industries and really enjoyed the team-driven aspect of audit work. My two and a half years at EY taught me so much about project management and working with others to efficiently and effectively achieve objectives. I hope to take those skills I learned during my time at EY and apply it at Embark to enable us to best serve our clients.
Embark has such a wonderful reputation and places a lot of value in its people and culture, which is so evident when interacting with anyone and everyone who works here. I'm very thankful I get to serve in the internal accounting department and work with the great people at Embark! On the weekends, I'm almost always drinking White Rock Coffee and making sure I get to spend as much time as possible with friends and family. Above all else, I am saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and find all joy and peace in Him.
I was born in California but grew up in a few different states. So while I enjoyed getting to see different parts of the US growing up, during college I decided to make Texas my home. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos and fell in love with the area and river. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting while at Texas State. After college, I started my accounting career at EY San Antonio working in their Financial Services Assurance Practice. During my time at EY, I have had the opportunity to audit insurance clients with a specific emphasis in accounting related to investment portfolios and employee benefit plans. In addition, I also gained experience in internal controls, documentation of key processes, and financial reporting.
Early on in my career and even in college, I realized one of the things I wanted to be able to do was help people. In college, I was an accounting tutor and it was so gratifying to be able to work with a student and reach that light-bulb moment where a topic now made sense. In my career, I also want to work collaboratively to reach that light-bulb moment. Now I’m ready to problem solve and collaborate in line with Embark and its clients.
When offline, I’m either a homebody enjoying binge-watching shows, reading, or out and about exploring the city, dancing, going to yoga. Can’t wait to try more tasty food in the area and get to know Austin better!
I grew up in St. Louis and attended Covenant College for undergrad then North Carolina State University for graduate school. After finishing my education I moved to Charlotte in 2009 where I joined the Assurance practice at PwC. I spent 9 years auditing large publicly traded companies primarily in the industrial manufacturing industry. I then spent three years as a Digital Accelerator working to re-engineer certain aspects of the external audit process. I am very excited to bring this accounting/auditing and process improvement experience to Embark to help provide high quality service to our clients.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife Linda and our four kids. I also spend a lot of time as a leader in my local church. I am an avid golfer, amateur woodworker, and huge fan of the St. Louis Blues.
I grew up most of my life in the Greater Houston Area, more specifically Pearland. For college, I went just a short stone's throw away at the University of Houston, where I completing my undergrad and graduate degrees in accounting.
After graduating, I began my career as an auditor at Deloitte. During my time at Deloitte, I specialized in upstream oil and gas, and had both private and public clients in the space, though I also spent some time at a large local midstream company. I benefitted greatly from having clients in both public and private environments, and was fortunate to gain exposure to multiple transactions, primarily asset acquisitions, as well as a SPAC transaction and S-4 issuance. All the while, I became very familiar with oil and gas industry lingo and the internal reserves process. I enjoyed the learning experiences and collaborating with colleagues on audits, however, being an auditor limited the ways I could actually help clients in the way I wanted, which attracted me to consulting and eventually led me to Embark!
Outside of work, I follow UH athletics very closely, and am fortunate to be a basketball season ticket holder. When I'm spending time up in my own head, I enjoy reading books or even doing my own writing. I also inherited a love of cooking from my mom, and enjoy trying out more elaborate recipes on weekends. When I'm not at home, I'll probably either be out at a UH game, exploring the restaurant scene with friends and family, or off traveling on an adventure, whether locally or abroad.
I grew up in Thousand Oaks, CA, about an hour north of Los Angeles. After high school, I moved to Fort Worth, TX to attend Texas Christian University (go frogs!) and earned my Bachelors of Business Administration. After a quick year at the University of Denver to earn my Masters of Accounting, I realized that Texas is home and settled in the Dallas area.
I started my career at Ernst & Young in their Dallas office. I worked in the assurance practice, primarily with public companies in the real estate and retail sectors. During my three years at EY, I gained valuable experience in financial reporting, data analytics, and internal controls. As a team-lead, I was also able to develop my people skills in order to successfully manage my team in addition to client relationships. Once I stumbled upon Embark, I was captivated by the people and culture, and I knew I wanted to be a part of the team!
Outside of work, my husband and I love to spend time doing escape rooms, watching TCU football, rock climbing, and taking walks with our dog.
Embark sends the best people, so much so that it makes us think that these people grow on trees. We know they don’t and we are grateful for all Embark does for our Team.
