Weston Brown, cpa*
Born on the East Coast, raised in Colorado and Texas. I attended the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Accounting. After graduating with my Master’s and Bachelor’s in accounting, I began my career at EY Denver in the audit practice. As a staff in the audit practice, I primarily worked on a large apartment REIT and a local Children’s Hospital. My mixed industry background gave me
After two years in the audit practice, I was looking for a new experience and transferred to the EY Denver tax practice. While in the tax practice I primarily focused on tax returns for REITs and small real estate development partnerships. My time in tax enhanced my knowledge of the U.S. tax code and company structure as well as expanded my research skills.
After leaving EY Denver, I went to work for Colorado’s largest utility provider, Xcel Energy, Inc. where I served as a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst. My primary focus was preparing and maintaining the financial statements for two of Xcel Energy’s wholly owned subsidiaries. My desire for the variety and challenge that a client-facing role provided ultimately led me to Embark.
Outside of work I enjoy staying active. I’m an avid runner and gym goer. On most days you can find me on the town lake trail running with my Golden Retriever, Tyson. I love playing and watching sports. I started playing ice hockey when I was 7 and still play weekly in a men’s league in Austin.
