Born and raised just outside of Kansas City--Go Chiefs! I made my way to the great state of Texas by way of Southern Methodist University. After graduating, I joined EY's audit practice and spent time in both the Dallas and Houston markets.
I started in public accounting working on a major telecommunications company in Dallas, and gained experience on internal controls and SOX compliance as well as various other corporate accounting functions. After one year in the Dallas office, my wife landed a job in Houston, and I transferred to EY's Houston audit practice. In Houston, I worked exclusively with public & private on-shore oil and gas E&P clients. I gained valuable experience on complicated accounting areas, and developed as a coach and project manager. After two years in EY's Houston audit practice, I transitioned into industry.
I worked for a private, global petrochemicals manufacturer for over three years in financial reporting, policy, and process improvement roles. I worked on, and led, various process improvement projects, during which I gained a deeper understanding of the complete accounting cycle, and appreciation for the challenges accounting departments face every day. This experience was invaluable, but I ultimately realized I missed the variety and client interaction of public accounting. At Embark, I'm able to combine my public and industry experience to deliver excellent service to my clients.
Outside of work, you'll find me chasing my twin toddler boys, hanging with my better half, obsessing over all things Kansas City Chiefs, or planning our next family vacation!
