Josh Niven, CPA*
Director
I was born and raised in Pinehurst Texas (north of Houston) and graduated from the University of Houston earning a BBA in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accountancy. Throughout college a held multiple accounting internships, but upon graduation I started full time as an auditor for KPMG.
While at KPMG, I audited public companies in various industries such as Oil & Gas, Oilfield Services, and Manufacturing. After about 4 years, I decided I wanted to help clients on the consulting side, so I joined EY in their Financial Accounting Advisory practice. At EY, I mainly focused on supporting clients going through some sort of transaction, such as carve-outs or IPOs, but I also helped public companies with financial reporting, technical accounting and countless ad-hoc projects. During my 4 years at EY, I developed my leadership skills and learned how to be creative while executing timely.
Now at Embark, I leverage all of my previous experience to come up with unique solutions for my clients. There is rarely a ‘one-size fits all’ solution in accounting, so I enjoy the challenge of finding efficient solutions to maximize value for my clients.
Outside of work, you can find me in a gym playing basketball or literally outside on a mountain bike. I also enjoy tinkering with my truck, mountain bike, or anything that can be customizable; it’s like my grown-up version of playing with Legos!
