Derek Elschner
vice president of business development
I am a lifelong Floridian, born and raised in Tampa, Florida. After high school, I attended the University of Florida, Go Gators, where I majored in Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
After making the short trip back to Tampa, from Gainesville, I started my career on the Risk Assurance team in PwC's External audit division. I quickly realized my extroverted personality did not align with my corporate responsibilities and transitioned into a role of Commercial Risk Advisor at Baldwin Risk Partners. Here, I honed my networking and C-suite communication skills and then took the jump to ME Wilson, where I was hired as a Vice President of Commercial Accounts. At ME Wilson, I was exposed to many different types of industries, most notably Construction, Real Estate, and Healthcare, while helping them meet both their Commercial Insurance and Employee Benefits needs.
Throughout my career, I've shown an ability to develop strong, interpersonal relationships, as well as solve problems for my clients and I look forward to continue using these skills in my current role.
Outside of work I can be found on a golf course, cheering on the Gators, or enjoying delicious food and drink with my wife, Lauren, and our Yellow Lab, Cooper.
