I was born and raised in Abilene, Texas, a small town in west Texas. After high school, I moved to Waco, Texas to attend Baylor University. While at Baylor University, I earned my BBA in accounting while also making lifelong friends and memories. After graduating, I moved to Dallas, Texas to begin my career with Deloitte in the Audit and Assurance practice and to be closer to my wife as she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UT Southwestern.
During my time with Deloitte, I served a variety of clients in both the public and private sectors. While with Deloitte, I was able to gain experience in a variety of industries including oil and gas, financial services, consumer products, and manufacturing. My experience with each of these clients helped me to broaden my knowledge of technical accounting, taught me how to work with and manage teams, and how to research and solve problems as they came up. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to begin my career at Deloitte and loved all the great people I was able to meet as part of my time there, but I ultimately decided that working in public accounting was not going to be what I wanted long-term for my career and for my family.
I enjoyed the client service aspect of working at Deloitte but did not enjoy the long hours and feeling like I was missing out on time with my family. Luckily, an opportunity presented itself with Embark and I was able to find a great place with a culture and mindset that mirrors my own. Working at Embark, I know that my skillset and experiences will be put to good use in an environment that fosters my development on the professional front as well as my development on the home front.
When I am not working, I spend most of my time with my wife, Erika, and our dog, Reese. While together, we enjoy going for runs, playing pretty much any sport, watching movies, and eating good food.
