Adaeze Obinnah, CPA*
I was born in New York, raised in Colorado (the best state in my humble and correct opinion), and currently living in Houston, Texas. I love Colorado, but hate the snow, so between that and the great food, Houston seemed like right place to stay! I was recruited to play basketball at Rice University here in Houston (#hootyhoo) where I majored in Mathematical Economic Analysis with a minor in Business and mastered in Accounting the following year.
After graduating, I got my CPA and started work at PwC in the PCS/Private audit group for about 3 years. I had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients in different industries like Oil & Gas, Utilities, Transportation & Logistics, Technology and Healthcare. I am so thankful for my time at PwC - the relationships I made and the experience I gained was top notch! However, at the end of the day, I really wanted to help clients (not bother them/add to their burdens) and even more than that, I wanted to make a difference in people's lives that went deeper than audit and business. This is why I chose to join Embark! The way Embark strives to care for their people and their clients - not as revenue generators but as real people is something that I thought was too good to be true, but here at Embark it's the real deal!!
After work hours, you can usually find me at church, singing or playing guitar, at a spin class (exercising, not knitting... although, both are cool), spending time with family and friends, or trying a new restaurant. I also love to travel, and thankfully, my family still lives in Colorado so I can always make a vacation out of going "back home"!
