Joel Mathew, CPA*
I grew up in two small suburbs of Dallas, first in Coppell and then later Flower Mound. I attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Soon after graduating, I began my career in the audit practice of EY focusing on healthcare and real estate clients.
After my time with EY, my wife and I moved to Houston where I worked at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. At MD Anderson I was part of a new financial team that was formed to build relationships with our Embassy partners to help the efficiency of international billings. Prior to joining Embark, I was the Controller for Planned Community Developer (PCD) in Sugar Land, TX which is a Real Estate Developer that also does property management. Sugar Land is regarded as one of the best planned master communities in the nation and PCD is a primary partner in its development. Here at Embark, I leverage my audit knowledge from EY and my industry experience to help our clients with any of their financial needs.
Outside of work, you’ll find me spending time with my wife and busy toddler. We enjoy visiting new places, trying new foods and making meaningful memories. In between EY and my industry experience, I pursued a graduate degree in theology to better serve my church. Our church is an integral part of our family life and we love serving in any way possible.
